As many of you know, I am on the hunt for a husband job.
You might have read the post comparing dating to job searching. If you didn't, here's a quick recap. Until you are married, you go on a few dates. Some are great, some are not so great, then you meet your husband, the end. Well, I have had a few long-term relationships when it comes to careers. I find a career and I am committed. I've only had one rough breakup, after a three-year-long career. I thought I had moved on, but my next relationship ended up being a rebound for seven months. My shortest career thus far.
Are you still following me?
If not, just pretend all my boyfriends were jobs and nod along. Pretend you understand, hang in there with me, and I promise I have a point. So, the job hunt. It was promising, it was exciting, it was one too many rejects. I've come to the point that I don't even expect a call back at this point. I wonder if this is what a one night stand feels like? Is it? Help me!
What's your point already?
I am becoming numb to dating expecting employers to respond, but then I was chatting and came to a realization. The realization is maybe it's not the employer, but me that's the problem. This person chatting with me is in a similar situation as I. Recently this person lost their job, has been actively looking, and made an interesting comment. They mentioned that their interview skills have been faultless. I find that very hard to believe. Which got me thinking about my interviewing skills.
Where could I improve?
So, I started watching videos, asking a few friends to critique my resume, and the phone interviews started to improve. I hope the job offers start rolling in soon, but the point is to improve. What is your perspective? Are you self-aware? Do you look to improve within, before changing your audience? Is it because I am a woman that I view it this way?
I think it's always best to look internally for fault before blaming the external. Plus the thing about jobs and relationships, from my perspective, is that when we think we need them, they are going to in some way not work out. Either they just want to use us to for their own means or vice versa, it's really a reflection of our own intentions. I'm sure you can make money doing something, so what exactly do you think you need from the job/relationship and why can't you provide that for yourself? If you are doing what you are passionate about and share in the beliefs or mission, then it's really their loss for not seeing that.

💜 that reminds me of the saying, it will all work out when the time is right. For some it takes two months to find a job and others longer because of how they utilized that time to find what they were looking for. I’ll keep looking, but it’s time to look outside the box for sure! Thanks for the words of encouragement! See you soon :)

Just keep being authentic the right offer will come along!
Sometimes we need the experience of shitty low paying jobs to know and narrow down what is a more fulfilling rewarding career - so to speak lol.
He will be out there and will show up when you least expect it!

This is very true. So many not so great opportunities have presented themselves, which I would have taken and probably regretted

Fortunately I don't have to rely on a resume to find work, HOWEVER...
I'm a freelancer and I lose my "job" every week, hoping there's another one to take its place... I feel the frustration as well! :(

Stop chasing the job. When you stop they’ll find you. But also don’t trust what I say 😂

I've been on the interviewer side of the desk more than the interviewee. I can say that while everybody can improve their interviewing skills, often it's not such a big deal. Usually there's multiple candidates who'd all be good for the job. So it comes down to the flavour the person brings to the job, how they'll fit with the current team and how they might change that team. So, you often can't take that too personally. To use your dating metaphor; you're moving in with your husband's family and they wanna know you'll fit it.

Ahaha, it’s a tough gig. You make a great point. I’ve been hired on to a team before where I didn’t fit and it would have been better had they not hired me.
