Escape from oppression

I wrote this for all of you out there who look in the face of any form of unfair authority and feel powerless, or those who currently are and do not realize it.

I know the feeling of oppression. I want to say I've dealt with quite a harsh form of it. It may a little hard for me to remember what exactly it felt like since my mind tends to put away thoughts it deems not worthwhile, but I do know it. The sense of helplessness. Facing all the unjustness in the world, and simultaneously feeling as if there is no way out.

But there is a way out. I don't want to make it sound easy, because it's not. Nothing worth having is given away for free. Well, in most cases. Such is the way our world works.

In any case, there is a way to freedom and living the life you want to live, but it starts with a very obvious yet not so obvious factor to some people: you.

Erase all that you've learned from your oppression. You were led to believe that you're not good enough. That you are not worthy of being treated like a proper equal as they are. You have to realize that this is all to create a someone, you, who is under as much control as possible by someone who probably does not have your best interest in mind.

It's this realization that starts our journey, in creating a better life for ourselves.

Be it a matter of time or tolerance, you have to find it in yourself to push forward. Because you have to assume that no one else will. No one else will live for you. Even more so in times of extreme hardship. On the contrary, many will try to make you live for them. That's why you can choose to accept life as how it was given to you, or you can fight to claim what you deserve.

As with our one life on this earth, comes only one chance for us to live it the way we want to. And what a waste would it be to have someone else dictate how it should be lived. So while conformity is the safe option, it probably is not the best option for you.

That's not to say that you should try to break through your problems with reckless brute force; remember what I said about things not being easy. It takes a good deal of thinking and planning to execute a reasonable plan, but you will want to, I assure you.

Take the time to take care of yourself as much as possible, while gaining knowledge in all the ways that you can. Because you are only as capable as your mind and body. Mental health usually gets overlooked in a person, because it's easy to forget about something you can't actually see. But it is our abilities, logic, and sanity that comes from here. So it's only wise to keep it growing and maintained. This means realizing all of our faults and strengths and acting to strengthen our strengths so that our weaknesses are not as prominent. In doing so, we give ourselves as much potential for success as possible.

When you finally set out to execute your plan, do so with as much bravery as you can muster up. You have to be able to acknowledge that failure is a possibility at any given time, and to plan for every possible outcome.

But in all this, remember what you're fighting for. Because that will be what gets you through the night. If not for yourself then for others, or for a greater cause. You dare to fight because the only other option is to do nothing. And whether you win or lose, you will be able to say that you lived your own life and did everything in your power to make it your own.
