If you want to preserve this kind of fruits you should start to store this tars all year so that you will have enough for the entire year ahead. Apples can be used for so many recipes, I made juice with one tar, macerate meats, jams to spread on bread etc. I let you this jams our friend sent us from Germany, made by themself

Now I said versus mangoes, here in Venezuela we have a different situation. In March we start to see the first mangoes in the trees and we start harvesting the mangoes in early Jun and the collection should last till August but the economical situation in this country desapears them before the end of harvest.

People get mad, the most desperate eat them not mature, in one month there is not mangoes at all, you can see the roads or fields clean, where I live there are trees even in the backyards. Many years ago we didn´t have this situation, we said the same expresion like my german friends: Damn mangoes, because they bring too many flies. I take advantage of the harvest and preserve them. Some very poor people take them free to make what we call JALEA of green mangoes, is like a solid jam and sell them in small plastic glasses.

In this pictures you can see that the road is clean of mangoes, when there is famine in the most poor people, they start looking for anything to eat, for us is a blessing to have the mangoes because you can not buy fruits because of the high prices they have. I want to let people know about the importance to be prepare for difficult times preserving food, or to have orchards, animal husbandrys etc. We never know when the wars will come, a severe famine due to lack of rain or even too much rain rot the foods in the fields, there are so many things that can throw us to desperate moments.
