Anpanman Museum in Yokohama

Welcome to Anpanman Museum! Anpanman is a very popular animated character in Japan. Most popular with children in age category of 0 - 4 yrs old. When they get older they switch for Pokemons. :)

This is Anpanman.

There are other characters in the Anpanman family. I'll name just a few of them: Dokinchan (the red one), Kokinchan (the blue one), Makichan, Karepanman (curry), Akachan (baby), Baikinman (the black guy), Shokupanman (bread), Melonpanna (melon), Rollpanna (roll),... already a bit confused. Let's stop!

Here we are in the main shopping area. Everything is soooo colorful, happy, and highly priced :) here. The lowest price I found was 350 yen for a bar of soap shaped like the Anpanman's head. The soap could be used only once. Although there is a mini Anpanman that pops out of the soap at the end. But who cares for the price anyway, when all the children have a wonderful time here.

Now something from the food section. It's not only about playing. For hungry tummies there are some options here.

This shop sells sweet Castella cake Anpanman characters. The box is nicely wrapped and good as a gift. Right next, on the left, we have got some salty and sweet crepes.

The popular Man shop is offering for hungry little people Anman (flour dough) filled with sweet azuki beans, Nikuman filled with pork, cheese koroke and curry koroke. Koroke is a deep fried croquette where the top part consists of mashed potato and the filling could be cheese, curry or vegetables.

They are selling rice hamburgers and rice balls/triangles here. The orange triangle boxes for rice balls are reusable. A good idea, I think.

Yummy bread from the Uncle Jam's Bakery. The breads are filled mostly with jam, then custard cream, cheese cream, and curry. Only the curry one is salty. On the picture below from left there is a curry bread, cheese cream, and custard cream bread.
The one in the middle makes you eat the nose first, yum. :)

There is one more part of the museum where I haven't visited yet. I'd like to add the second version of Anpanman later.
