Alcoholism: Celebrating Two Months Of Sobriety By Helping Someone I Care For.

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've been debating on what to write for my two-month sobriety post. For this post, I wanted to do something a little different.

First, I wanted to celebrate with my fellow Steemians via a video post with a tradition my Mexican part of the family does when they PaRtY! Since this is a party I'm going to give you what my father has always referred to as a "Mexican Holler".

Second, I am very grateful for this community and I know I have repeatedly told you that. But I wanted to share that once again. Out of gratefulness and spirit of community, I feel the need to use this platform to shed some light on a fellow Steemian... @thecrazygm. If you haven't seen Mike's post today, A Plea For Help, I wanted to bring it to your attention.

I've been able to personally get to know Mike over the last two months working with Viva. He is one of the first people to tell me he was inspired by my sobriety story and he wanted to become a better person because of it. That is one of the first moments I realized through all the trials of Alcoholism and PTSD that the rough adventure I had been on could actually be used for good. He truly inspired me to keep going and for that, he will always hold a special place in my heart.

Mike has titanium rods in his back and has posted a few times about the impact that has had on his life. Well, Mike fell and now he's getting to know a wheelchair a little more personally than he would have liked and it's quite possible it could become his sidekick home skillet biscuit due to paralysis.

Now, he needs a little help with medical bills. I understand if you can't donate anything to his account. If it's in your heart, please upvote this post and his post to help with his medical bills. All Steem and SBD from this post will be forwarded to his account upon payout.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this...and 3 months of sobriety...Here I come!

Good to hear, my bro has depression + drinks.. so a bad combo. So seeing someone get out of it is good to see and even better to see if they keep off it :)

Thanks @condra. I will pray your friend. I have noticed in most situations of Alcoholism there is an emotional component to it and it usually revolves around something lacking in your life. That's just my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

I think you're pretty amazing and so is Michael. I'm planning on writing a #payitfoward post for him tomorrow. Anything helps, right?

Yes, Mer anything helps. I am thrilled to see this post doing well and truly overwhelmed that the community has honored me in such a way to upvote this the way they have. It truly gives me more faith in humanity as a whole and it brings a smile to my face knowing Michael will be helped by this corner of the internet we call Steemit.

Your journey is such an inspiration. Thank you for putting yourself out there! Keep looking upward for strength to plow on and on :)

Words like yours give me the motivation to keep going. Not only in my personal journey but putting myself out there so publicly. Thank you so much for the kind words.
