A few months ago, I asked my followers to vote for their top three minnows, and the 20 highest-voted I added to my SteemVoter rules, at 100% vote (which then was around $4; now, it's almost $12). However, from that experience I learned that was way too high, and over time reduced and reduced again, until it landed at 10% which allowed my voting power to recover (as long as I wasn't making lots of manual votes).
So, I'm planning to run a similar-but-different campaign, once my voting power reaches 100% again, which should be a few days.
(Marmalade, I like marmalade.)
Had the second temporary filling for a root canal put in today. I recommend brushing...1/2 :) And even more so -- oil pulling!
Anyway, also separately, I have managed to turn ~1.2 BTC into ~3 BTC during this downturn. Not using margin, although I did recently come across NordFX which advertises 1000x margin. I think that's a little too risky! I might start margin trading, so I can "increase while it's going down" rather than just when it's going up. If that makes sense; I feel I should explain more -- I'm holding CTR from around 24,500 Satoshis, and today saw it impulse up; in about an hour it went from ~9,500 Sat to over 15,000 Sat!
Unfortunately it was after I got back from the dentist that I noticed this, and it had dropped to around 12,500 Sat. I started selling there, and it moved up some so got out between 12.5k and 12.8k.
I did this not because I wanted to "set in stone" a losing trade (which I did, and need to record...) -- but, because I though that it would move further down after this rapid move up, so I'd be able to buy more back at a lower price, and then have that move up and, combined, both trades would be positive -- and could be, even if it never made it back to the starting point.
Were I using a margin account, I could have not only sold, but also taken a short position in it, so that IF it drops as I expect it to based on the chart, then I'd be gaining coins rather than just "not losing as it moves down." I've been watching videos by @philakonecrypto recently which inspired me to start trading the BTC/USD pair.
Back to the voting: this time, I intend to add 50 accounts to my SteemVoter, so I'll probably set each at a 5% vote.
Previous winners are listed in the previous tabulation blog post. Feel free to vote for them, there are no restrictions based on prior selection. However, I will ensure that the accounts I upvote are minnows, so if my assistance helped push them past that threshold, they're no longer eligible -- and, congratulations! :)
What defines a minnow? For the purposes of this contest, it's simple: the account must have under 5000 SP, and under 500 followers (from here).
Enjoy!
Oh, I was going to say "where'd the marmalade come from, for an SBD!" -- but then I selected it and searched, and Atom Heart Mother came up. So, enjoy this old Pink Floyd album I was listening to when I wrote that! :) (Now listening to Meddle, their next chronologically.) Also note that the cow's side in the image contains an Azimuthal Equidistant world map, or more colloquially, a "flat Earth map"! It's also on the face of one of the clocks in Doc's kitchen, at the beginning of Back to the Future. Not to be too disturbing in this post -- one's introduction to the true shape of things must be done carefully, as many people are in the category described by that old war movie, which had the quote "You can't handle the truth!" My guess? You can. Just beware of the symptoms of cognitive dissonance.
You doing a great work @libertyteeth... It feels really good when we see people helping minnows.. I am also a minnow.. I would love if I get some support from you... Thanks a lot...

Awesome man, awesome initiative. Thank you for all your support in the past and future. You are a great thinker and a blessing to many.
Hope I am still qualified for this position, no question, I have enjoyed your upvote in the past and I greatly have you to thank for upvotes.
Thank you. I don't want to be greedy though and I want others to enjoy too.

You're welcome, glad it has helped!
Looks like you wouldn't qualify, based on the metrics I've worked out in comments here -- the initial metric was "< 500 followers, and < 5,000 SP", but someone said they have 600 followers but very little SP, so I said okay, it could be a combination -- each follower is worth 10 SP, then just add that to the SP value, and if it's less than 10,000 then they qualify.
Since you have more than 1,000 followers, the followers alone would account for more than 10,000, so you wouldn't qualify. Which is great, in a sense! :) Like when a company is "too busy" to handle incoming requests -- meaning it has to hire more people -- that's a much better problem to have than bored employees. :)
You could help by resteeming my upcoming contest announcement, now that you have so many followers. :)
Blessings your way as well!

Haha! When I read the beginning of the comment (e.g., on my "Replies" page) I had forgotten that I mentioned dentistry in the post, and wondered if you were riffing on my name, LOL!
That's funny you mentioned LTC -- rather than waiting for my rungs to hit in the BTC/USD pair I had been quite profitably trading these past few days, last night I decided to put it into LTC instead.
I really like the chart! It's held up strong the past three days while BTC dove. And I hear ("fundamental analysis") rumors that Facebook might use LTC as their currency.
It was really humorous to read that some group is advocating that Google block cryptocurrency ads as well -- they completely missed the real point, that being that Facebook has decided on the cryptocurrency to use, and they don't want any "competition" as it might confuse the advertisers. I see that as quite bullish for whichever coin Facebook has chosen.
Good luck to your trades!

Well, I suppose turnabout is fair play! :) You taught me so much in the esoteric field, back on DP/PL, I feel honored to be able to!
Sometimes I get a "block" -- I haven't picked the book up in weeks; just did so, so I could say what page I'm on: still only 63, which is the beginning of chapter 2.
I did have stock options back in the 90s, so I had a decent involvement in the stock market; but I never studied Elliott Waves and am blown away at how everything fits into these impulse/retracement waves! I mean seriously, almost every chart I look at I can quickly find an impulse -- waves 1, 3, and 5 go up, where waves 2 and 4 go down (or vice versa, in a downtrend); when wave 4 retracts, it never goes into wave 1's territory; and wave 3 can't be the shortest (of 1, 3, and 5). Simple!
It's almost like my brain doesn't want any more input -- "this is enough". And certainly, it's not enough; I've been watching @philakonecrypto's lessons, the 6-hour one I mentioned in a previous post which motivated me to trade BTC/USD and have more than doubled that account in the past week or so.
It's snowing here now, supposed to get up to a foot. Thus it's the second time we've had to cancel an appointment for my wife's knees, with a doctor who is using them [edit: stem cells] to help people with joint pain. Sounds miraculous and would be awesome if it worked! She needs both knees replaced, and this year was going to be the year to do it, so it's really cool to have found this beforehand.
Found an article on using stem cells to help heal teeth, but the pain was too great so this nerve had to get pulled. I feel bad about it, especially not having done much oil pulling lately, and knowing that I could have avoided this -- both the pain, and the financial hardship, it's gonna be around four grand.
Hope your head feels better! One way we can know that energy healing works -- if you see someone holding their hand to their head, you "know" they have a headache. That innate knowledge is because the healing energy flows out from our fingertips. I think it's really cool to be able to understand the world through tiny glimpses.
I have a feeling that's what Elliott Waves are doing, which is why I'm so drawn to them.

Awesome initiative and this was brought to my attention by one of our admins.
Too bad I am no longer eligible given i have more than 500 followed already and is heavily involved in community building under both Ohana @steemitfamilyph and @promo-mentors which aims to teach and guide a lot of redfish and planktons to create original and good quality content.
We at Ohana @steemitfamilyph started with 10 people last October and has grown to more than 200 people and still growing so we will try to pitch for them to be part of the 50. You might want to look under the main account as we have a daily curation of the members who receive 100% from the account. It's not much about 24 cents now due to small SP we voluntary gave to it but is a boost to some.
Promo-mentors is the same that we encourage growth and development and most importantly retention of red fishes.
We will await further instructions and hope that you may consider some of our members.

Hey, looks like you might be eligible, based on the rules I worked out in a comment in this post. Basically, to combine the metrics in a way that they can be interchanged, because some people might have exceeded one metric but not the other.
So, followers are worth 10 SP, and that sum is then added to the SP. If it's less than 10k, then the account qualifies for the contest. You do! :)

Resteeming doesn't directly benefit the resteemer; it helps expose their output to a wider audience, which means there's a higher chance that their post will be upvoted with rewards.
So, you won't get STEEM or SBD for doing so -- but, you might have some minnows who are following you and not me, who will then have the opportunity to participate.
One strategy (for the minnows) is to both resteem, and make an original post, something like "Please vote for me in @libertyteeth's contest!" I noticed @bearbear613 did so while I was searching for the previous contest:

Hi libertyteeth, here is the latest full introduction of @steembasicincome. it’s quite extensive : https://steemit.com/basicincome/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-a-complete-overview . If you hav any questions they are very responsive. I got into it because of scarlet7 resteeming it on her/ his blog (I’m not sure about the gender of scarlet)
Communism has a bad reputation but I think the philosophy ansich is quite a beutifull one. I have seen in the kiboetz in Israel. There communism can work quite well on small scale, because it is adjusted to current needs and does have a bit of kapitalusm in it nowadays. I don’t think steembasicincome has anything to do with communistic thoughts, not even socialism in my opinion. It’s different than what I have known before. I hope you will like it.

Neat! @scarlet7 is working with @haejin; he (I'm pretty sure!) moderated and did some technical support during the first session Haejin ran a couple weeks ago. I wasn't in the recent one, but I'm considering attending the one this weekend.
Yeah I think you're right about it not really having anything to do with communism; I'm just a little trigger-happy after all these idiots tried derailing trains, finger-pointing Russians (most of those fingers point back at them!!!), ad nauseum, and I truly mean that.
Ready for the storm to be upon us. Weird to admit, but I now believe McCarthy was right.
Anyway, yeah, I'll check out the link! :)

Yes, this time I will replace the running list. However -- every account which qualifies as a minnow is eligble to win, e.g. if you have less than 500 followers, and less than 5,000 SP (or combination -- I worked it out in a comment earlier today, which I'll include in the upcoming post; basically, each follower = 10 SP, so with the two combined you would qualify if under 10,000 SP and no followers; or, if under 1,000 followers and no SP -- but it'll more likely be a combination of the two, for instance, someone might have 600 followers, but less than 4,000 SP, and they'd qualify).
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
Submit
I really hope that to be among. I have almost 600followers but my SP is low. Can I still qualify?
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

Hmm. I suppose we could work out "what is a follower worth in terms of SP", and then I could set a different, combined, limit.
E.g., if a follower was "worth" 10 SP, then 500 followers would be 5,000 SP. Add that to the 5,000 SP that's part of the above limit, and then an overall "10k SP limit; each follower adds another 10 SP" and you'd qualify.
Now I just need to remember this when I do the contest post! (I'm recovering from multiple concussions, and forgetfulness is one of the major symptoms.)

Thanks, you made me tear up a little there. ;) His abusive behavior and foul mouth are driving people away. I am one of them; the two times he has attacked me, I've taken some time off. (At least the SteemVoter rules stayed in effect during those periods, so I was still helping others while absent.) And the most recent time, he even committed crimes attacking me -- he DDoSed my site, which took down the hosting company's server -- meaning it impacted other, completely unrelated, sites. I have records, the attacks lasted days.
Some may argue that he's helping; that the "drama" makes it like reality TV and compelling to see "who will win the fight?"
Personally, and to quote The Breakfast Club:
(I have a feeling that John Bender was the inspiration for Futurama's character, Bender.)
Anyway, I've muted it so the only way I'll see it or its behavior is if I'm attacked again.
Love your last sentence!!

It is not the downvotting itself that is the biggest problem, in my opinion, it’s the emotional scarring that Bernie does to people. I delegated steem to Haejin and I thought that I could take it back in three days, but I couldn’t, because this person just won’t stop. Bernie is a bully hiding behind his computer. He must have been bullied himself, as this behavior is just so emotionally disturbing on many levels. I’m glad you were there to defend, and I can imagine you had to take time off. Here's a song to reflect on your behavior; Tom Lehrer, "Plagiarize" (which he titled, "Lobachevsky"):
Note to others: if you made a post, and see two comments which contain basically the same content -- you can hover over the e.g. "2 hours ago" for each comment, in order to see the exact date/time it was posted.
In this case, @abhicrypto made his comment at 12:03 am, and the above commenter plagiarized his comment three minutes later. So, I'm positive that this is the one I should downvote.

Well actually, it might be the case that their private keys have been hacked -- I've seen this happen to a few well-known accounts since I started here last June. But I upvoted and responded positively to another comment from that account a day or two prior, so if it was hacked, the hacker didn't change the private keys...

Hmm. Those are the exceptions, I guess. Because I've seen it on some other guys post where some other guy's comment was plagiarized just to have a feel among the early commenters of the post. I'm happy with what the OP did. He smartly discovered that the comment was unoriginal because the plagiarist did one hell of shabby editing. Lol
Now, I think the tide is gradually changing from "good post, thanks for sharing" to plagiarizing comments of others.

Yeah I have definitely seen it from more accounts! Only a couple of the accounts I've seen that behavior from, said that they had been hacked. I remember one guy even had to create a different account since they changed his keys, but he did eventually get his account back. Don't recall who, but it was one of the "bigger folks" on here -- not sure if that meant wallet, or rep, as it was in my earlier days here.
I'm happy with what I did, too. :)
