Garza Morena o Ardea herodias It is a type of heron that inhabits preferably in areas of shallow water and especially where its long legs allow it to walk slowly, to hunt the fish and crustaceans that it finds in its path. They are very common in the Venezuelan plains and can be observed with tranquility in the Hato el Cedral located in Apure state.

These herons are important elements of shallow water communities in coastal lagoons, in mangroves and in rivers, caños lagunas and estteros del llano. They are an important predator of fish, crustaceans and other small animals. At the same time, they adorn the landscape with their haughty figure.
