Roger was one of those missing after a racoon attack. Two days later he surfaced, hanging around the coop. But he wouldn't go in. I left him to the mercies of the wild and said, "Fine, you're a free ranger now!" For the next three days i saw him doing just fine on his own, staying out of reach of the preditors. But i think he was lonely. He finally let me catch him and put him back in with the others.
After i got some hens i noticed Roger calling them over to the food he was picking up and showing them. It was this behavior that made me decide to keep him and let him be one of the roosters of the flock.

Wandering Roger ) he looks calm in your hand, like he is saying, “Ok, I’m done being independent for now” )

He really is happy in his new role. There are already 2 hens in his permanent flock although he doesnt know it yet.

I hate to report Roger's fate. His head was eaten by a predator leaving the body behind.
