How To Be A ‘Digital Nomad’ In 2017

in life •  8 years ago  (edited)

While visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand, I discovered exactly why it is called the "digital nomad capital" of the world! I spoke to entrepreneur, author and Nomad Summit founder Johnny FD about what it means to be a “Digital Nomad” in 2017.

“I went through the normal system. I went to high school, got good grades, went to college, took out student loans, graduated so that I could try to get a good corporate job, and there I am—I worked for this big American corporation, they’re treating me like crap, I don’t have any benefits, and at the end of the year, I had nothing in savings. I had hardly been able to take a vacation. Even if I could fly here, I had to fly straight back, and I had to keep working, I have all of this student loan debt, and it’s just BS. I just couldn’t get ahead and I wasn’t happy. I had everything people told you that you [should have], and even then if you’re not happy, what next? I’m so lucky that I found Chiang Mai, Thailand.”

GREATLY motivating, vibrant and very encouraging to hear and see! thank you so much for sharing it all with us.

The digital nomad came to my mind a few years back and, with the advent of today crypto-currency potential, can now definitely see the end of it taking place within the next few years, especially if Steemit comes to the uprise it is looking like it is going to get to!

All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

Nice video, inspiring!

I visited Chang Mai 25 years ago - loved it and the Thai people - lovely food.

Now I am a Digital Nomad in Czech Republic (Brno, 2nd Largest city) fantastic quality of life, best transport and infrastructure you can imagine and 300mbps (down) / 30mbps (up) fibre, unlimited for just $25 per month.

Of course the beer is fantastic and dirt cheap.

Being a student city, there is 100s bars and nightclubs and many major touring acts come through because it is between Budapest/Vienna and Prague.

The time zone is great, in the middle between Asia and US so for those not quite ready to move to Asia - I recommend Brno!

Long live the Digital Nomad movement!

How much is rent in a decent 2 bedroom condo?

love the city of chiangmai ... wonderful stories!

I had the chance to watch this on your youtube channel a couple days ago, and i must say it is incredibly inspring. Thanks for all that you and your network do. Keep on rocking the "free" world! :)
