THE STORY UNTOLD

The Former Prime Minister of Britain, David Cameron once said 'Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world,' this is a statement of fact which might be true and making this statement placed every Nigerian in the circle of "CORRUPTION." Well, who would blame the Honourable David Cameron for saying what he felt?

There are some foreign sites that deny Nigerian IP all because of the evil deeds that were done mostly by Nigerians in the past, and this has deprived some talented Nigerians of gaining the benefits these sites have to offer.
I have been a freelance writer for almost a year now, and I have made over $3,000 within these periods. Before now, I never liked computers; I could barely spend 15mins in front of a desktop browsing. While in school, I preferred going through old textbooks for research, although I had a smartphone then, I only used it for chatting on Facebook, WhatsApp, etc. After I had graduated, I needed to make money on my own; I wanted to use my skills to make something for myself. This made me pause for a while to think; then it occurred to me that all I needed was information and the only way to get this information was to surf the web. I began to browse online with my smartphone on how to earn money independently. While searching, I discovered some freelancing site like Fiverr.com, Upwork.com, Freelance.com, etc... where you can offer any service and get paid. I did more research and with the help of a friend I bought a PC for the first time and I signed up for Fiverr.com.

Operating a Nigerian profile gave me no sales for the first two months I signed up; I mean, nobody dared to inbox me, not even a 'Hi.' This was depressing and frustrating, so I decided to approach it in my way, or should I say the Nigerian way. I downloaded an IP, and my location was changed to the US; I opened a new profile, and to my surprise, someone contacted me just after three days I signed up with a fake profile. After discussing the job description, the client placed a $5 order which I delivered in less than 24hours. He accepted and left a 5-star review. As the day goes by, orders kept trooping in, and I kept giving my best.

Some clients even asked for my contact, although it was against Fiverr rules; I exchanged contact anyway. Today, some of these clients know I am Nigerian, but they kept dealing with me. One of my clients told me once, 'I suspected you were not from the United States as you claimed but I was impressed with your work' and hearing these words gave me a feeling I can not just explain now.

Now, can we pay a visit to the statement of fact made by Honourable David Cameron? He said, and I quote "Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world." Of course, this might be true, but it all depends on which perspective you choose to look at it. David Cameron was the Former Prime Minister of Britain, so, I am permitted to say He is a politician. Therefore, He is speaking from His political point of view. I believe he must have had dealings with top Nigerian leaders who He sees as corrupt being for him to be bold enough to say this statement in public.

Being a Nigerian doesn't make one corrupt. Yes! My country may be corrupt, but it doesn't mean the 100% of Nigerian citizens are corrupt. There are a lot of Nigerians out there who are struggling and hustling to make money daily in a legit way. Nigeria is full of intelligent and talented people, but the rate of unemployment in Nigeria is very high, the odds for an average or poor Nigerian to become rich tomorrow is very low, but that doesn't stop Him/Her to wake up in the morning and keep the hustle alive. A true Nigerian is always hopeful; a true Nigerian never gives up. We all have a choice to make and trust me; there is always a choice.
