I was fed up with the way I was living my life. So I asked the universe for help : AND BOY DID IT PROVIDE !

At the beginning of April this year, as my 40th birtday was drawing near, I found myself contemplating: Am I happy? Don't get me wrong: I'm blessed with a beautiful girlfriend (@eefje) with whom bought a house with a nice garden and we have two adorable cats. But I also had a shitty job and we we were heavily addicted to cannabis. Allow me to elaborate:

In 2010 started working at a company called Lekkerland. They deal in cigarette-machines. At the time I thought it was an interesting company and after a year I was promoted from cigarettemachinefiller to middle management. As the years past by, regulation and the anti-smoke lobby made it harder and harder for the company to run their business. People we're fired and the remaining workers had to work harder and more. From 2015 onward I went to work cranky and every day that feeling got worse. Untill I could no longer take the stress and started crying at my workstation. My manager (who is awesome btw) told me to go home and the next day I got an invitation from the head-office to discuss what was going on.
After some negotioting we decided to part ways. The company was kind enough continue to pay me for the oncoming three months, without me having to show up for work.
And there I was, jobless with no clue on what to do next.

Then there was the cannabis problem. For the last 10 years I've been smoking marijuana on a daily basis. Let me tell you: smoking pot is a very expensive hobby. It never interfered with my work, but ruled every other aspect of my life.
Not working anymore didn't really help either.

After a month of doing nothing (except smoke pot) after I lost my job I had a long, deep conversation with my best friend about life. I told her I was clueless and was walking towards a depression. She was the one that told me: "Just ask, and the universe will provide". I started thinking about the old days, when we were more into spiritual things and decided to give it a try.

That's when the magic started happening!

After two weeks, a close friend of @eefje and me posted the following on fb: "Who wants to on holiday to Turkey with me and my boyfriend, it's dirtcheap!" Without hesitation we told her we'd be delighted. We booked appartments for a week, flights and transfer from and to the airport for a lousy 200 euros each! We would leave on the 9th of june.
I'll tell you more about our vacation soon in another Steemit post, but on the third day, we met this guy:

His name is Faruk and we had a long conversation about life in general. At a certain point he asked me what I did for a living and I told him I was actually looking for a new job. Then he told me his uncle lives in the Netherlands and owns a construction company. He sent him a text immidiately and his uncle replied: "Let him give me a call as soon as he gets home from his vacation". Needless to say I was flabbergasted, but I did at that moment recognize the mysterious ways of the universe! Opportunity was knocking!

As soon as I got home I gave his uncle a call and told him that my contract with my old employer ended on the 30th of june.
He told me that he was very happy to find a new employee, since two of his workers just left without notice (there's the universe at work again). We agreed to meet in real life the next day:

After a short talk he decided to give me a chance, even though I have zero experience in the construction business (thank you universe!). I started working for him last monday!

On top of it all, @eefje and I didn't smoke any cannabis while in Turkey and have had no withdrawel symptoms at all ;)
We decided to quit and haven't smoked any pot since. A week after quitting weed, we both got a vape-pen for nicotine and thus stopped smoking cigarettes as well. That's 3 weeks ago tomorrow! Pot and cigarette -free at last!
We have a lot more energy, our sense of smell and was enhanced and best of all: we started dreaming again.
And my bank-account is loving it as well, since we spent about 1100 euros per month (!) on dope and cigarettes!

Then, two weeks ago, my brother-in-law (@dnijsse) told me that his good friend (@juliank) told him about this new platform called Steemit. I decided to give it a go and was not dissapointed!

I AM A VERY HAPPY MAN AGAIN!!

Peace and love!

Welcome to seemit @marcovanhassel. It's good to hear about your amazing story. The universe does provide ..All we gotta do is ask with 100% trust and sincerity. It is the law of attraction at play. What you have said about getting a job is nothing short of a miracle. Just imagine how everything worked out ..Every small detail was planned to perfection!

I've witnessed the law of attraction at work before, but I kinda lost my way over the years. It is truly a miracle👍

Haha, the universe is indeed providing for all of us. Steemit is probably a fantastic decision for you. I loved your story!

When I arrived on Steemit a few weeks ago I was very confused how this all works. I read through hundreds of articles about the dynamics of Steemit and finally wrote this The Ultimate Guide for Steemit Beginners: Money, Posts, Design, Topics, Bots, Behaviour, Community and Apps. I wrote it for YOU. Normally I wouldn't post my links into others comments unasked. But the massive positive feedback from my readers made it my mission to help newcomers finding this post quickly. Feel free to ask any questions. I will try to answer them all. I apologize if you are not interested in this and I will not further disturb you.

Thats a great story. Its funny how opportunity comes in the small moments of life (like having a conversation with somebody while on vacation). Even better is that you took full advantage of it, and never looked back.

Congratulations on being smoke-free and on getting a new job.

Best of luck to you on your life & steemit journey!

Nice👍

I like the transparency man! I'm honestly less willing to share personal stories like that, but reading yours is uplifting. a tip for quitting cold turkey: never dip a toe in the water again.. it leads to jumping in.

Thanks for the support @cybertom. Maybe sharing a story of your own will get you positive reactions; they'll lift you up even further. No fear, no regrets👍
