Or perhaps she doesn't know how to use sources properly yet as she's a newbie? Did you even consider helping her before you attack her so viciously? Listen, I didn't get laid either last night but I won't take it out to poor folks (especially newbies who have a lot to learn and need guidance) on Steemit. Relax a tiny bit for fuck sakes ;)))

For your information, I have spent 2 years on this platform coaching people (in groups, on the one-on-one basis, through Steem.chat, Discord, Skype... - you name it). If I spent just 10% of that time creating my own posts and in different ways craving for the attention of big SP account holders, my wallet would very likely look different. But I enjoyed (and still do) when my students outperform me (what many of them did).

However, (read my initial comment once again), maybe you'll figure out that it has been addressed more to ring the bell of those (and some, apparently recognized themselves) capable to highly upvote such plagiarised crap content than to the author itself (as I am aware she is new - although, I've learned on the way some things should be cut in its roots).

And BTW, your language is not very appealing if even appropriate.

It's because I pick my language wisely depending the person's attitude in front of me each time. You are doing great on Steemit and congratulations. However, Steemit is nothing more than just another social media platform and part of the world we live in. And this world is supposed to be a free world (in theory), right? So, anyone can vote/support whoever he/she wants to. The upvoter in this case has created 95% of his SP from his own pocket (FIAT money he made in the real world and invested on Steemit), so if he wants to support people from his real environment, I don't see where is the problem exactly. Do you?

I have been raised in a way to respect the rules of the house I'm in it.
In that sense, Steemit "house" has its rules as well. They are very transparently delivered to every new user, before creating their first post, in the following form.
When you first log in to your Steemit Account

Some of those links are:

Steemit FAQ
inside which you may find what is considered spam or abuse of Steemit platform usage

Through above-listed links, every new user would be guided as well to read "Helpful Posts from Steemit Users" among which they may find the following ones:

Steemit Etiquette and as well
Is it okay to use random pictures from the internet?

According to all just listed, and to answer your question, that's exactly where the problem is and where I see it!

We don't disagree there at all. I am 100% for crediting sources correctly and respecting the rules of the platform that host us. Sure!!! However, if the experienced steemians like you and me attack newbies by doing a mistake in their very first post instead of guiding them and showing them the right way, Steemit will become a ''prive club'' for very few members and that's the ideal way to fail and never grow as a community. It's her first post, she made a mistake as she didn't know better. Show her the right way, don't take her head off because she got a fat vote. That is my opinion. Have a nice day :)

She is trained in pilates. She has every right to use that illustration, as do the "hundred other sites" you mention, on her business cards, on her studio, and here on this post. The photos are, as I said, of her.

As I said, an apology is in order.

Oh WOW, so she is even using it for her business.
I'm "sure" then, that she must have been paid the author for that kind of commercial use use as well (not only for Steemit publishing commercial purposes).

BTW - you have been around long enough to know it better.
And in that sense, if someone owes the apology to whom, then you just owe me the one.

Apology for what ? For pointing out plagiarism ? Or for bad photo quality? Maria could at least step up and explain (or apologize) not let her friends do the talking.

It is her very first post. She knows nothing about the platform yet. I was not the one who told her about steemit, but I am happy to see her here. And I welcome her and wish her a good journey with us.

The apology would be for making a rude, jealous and vindictive comment rather than a kind and welcoming greeting with suggestions for improvement and pointers as to where she may have erred.

I'm sorry that I didn't see this comment earlier @rouketas, but as you didn't tag me properly (purposely or not), I'm aware of it just now, when another user drow my attention to it.

But to answer your "pointing finger" comment...
In all my posts (or at least 99% of them), including the first ones, I'm using my own photos or the photos from Pixabay.com (which are under the CC0 Creative Commons license, free for commercial use and with NO attribution required).

Therefore, and just for your information, I didn't need and I don't need to put a source for any of these! (Although, now and for quite some time by now I'm doing that even for them too, just because of those people who don't care for someone else's authors rights.) When I use other sources (if they are free to use and free to use for commercial purposes) I give a proper attribution.

Accordingly, the post you've linked to contains the photos, images and/or illustrations from Pixabay.com, some of which I changed, by that creating my own derivative work (what I'm also allowed to do with Pixabay photos) for the purpose of my article.

The same applies even to the (arrow) GIF as it's, in fact, my own creation. This GIF is created with several images and illustration from Pixabay. Again, my own derivative work!

And last, but not least, for "smart ones" as you apparently wanted to be, and just in case, I keep the records for every single source that I have ever used (no matter if for my online or offline publishing).

So, to conclude...
My dear finger pointer, who didn't do your research well or even at all, you pointed your finger at the wrong direction!!!

I totally agree with you, @kus-knee . It's her first post and everyone knows the best way to welcome a newbie teaching how steemit works is to give him/her a warm welcome and some tips too, for sure a rude approach to newbies is really a bad bad thing to do!

And yes, I'm sorry that all these, afterward conversation is happening under her blog and post, but as I was attacked here for having the guts for speaking the ugly truth, I'm replying where I have been called.

I'm sorry, but so far besides initially said, I don't have anything more to say to this user as she didn't even bother to reply on my comment (in any way). As @annaabi very well noticed, she...

And regarding the tips, I think I left enough good links and resources (in one of my comment-replies above to another user) that might be useful to her is she missed or neglect them at the beginning (which tips, links, and resources any of her strong defenders didn't bother to provide her with all the way through).
And if nothing else, because of all of that I'm sure she will have a chance to learn and improve, and I hope she would grab that chance the most positive way she can. The rest - the time will show.

Thanks! 🙂 I agree with you that I could handle it differently. And the only excuse I have why I didn't probably lie around the fact that steem-cleaning is not an easy task at all and even less some popular one. But after several hours dealing with a different kind of abusers, most of which have the same or very similar approach, and especially with those who are persistent in their abusive attempts, no matter how do you approach them, I suppose, and being sick of all of that, I reacted a bit too impulsive.
In that sense, I can't tell you how hard I'm waiting for HF20, although it wouldn't free us of all the problems we have around at the moment, and many things would still be left for further improvements.
