I went to get my hair cut yesterday and I thought you might like to see someone that has many of my fine art pictures displayed in their hair salon. The women that cuts my hair showed my pictures to one of her colleagues and he loved my pictures from New York City. He got a few and hung them up in his space at the salon. The salon is called Salon Michelle. Michelle is the owner and she also likes my fine art pictures, so when Jorge wanted to hang my pictures up in his room at the salon, she was all for it.
The above picture was taken at Rockefeller Center at what is called the top of the rock. It is an observation deck on the top. In the picture what you are seeing in the middle is the Empire State building. I love the top of the rock, because if you find the secret stairway that goes all the way to the top, there is nothing obstructing you view. It is set back a little from the floor below, so if you were to just you would only land on the floor below. So, when you are taking pictures there is nothing in the way of a great shot. If you have ever been to the Empire State Building, you know they basically have a fence around their viewing deck. Not great for pictures.
The picture below shows all the pictures on the wall.
This picture is of the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a cold night when I got this picture. It took a lot of experimenting to get just the right look. Oh, you can see me taking the picture of this reflected in the picture on the wall.
You might remember this picture from one of my last blogs. This was in Times Square at about 3 in the morning and it was cold. You can't see any people there. It was a strange feeling being there with hardly anyone around. It was sort of like the world had ended. Do you like the way it is framed?
Here is a picture of Cindy who cuts my hair. She was not very excited to have her picture taken.
One of the hair stylists sells some nice clothing in the salon.
Here is another one of my pictures. It is a little hard to see, but this one is of a sign that advertised four different Broadway shows. I didn't get to see any shows on this trip, but I hope to go back soon and see some shows. Does anyone have any suggestions on a show to see?
Here is a picture that I turning into a black and white. I had also inverted the colors before that, so it has a very different look to it.
This last fine art picture is my best selling one. Everyone loves the taxi and the rushed feeling of Times Square. I had inverted the colors in this one as well, but somehow the taxi was still yellow. The people walking across the street look like ghosts.
I hope you liked seeing where some of my pictures are.

I am an award winning photographer and filmmaker. Many of my pictures have been used in TV Shows and Feature Films, such as "Zero Dark Thirty", "NCIS Los Angeles", "Scandal", "Blackish" and "The Walking Dead".
All my pictures are from one capture and nothing is computer generated, except where noted. Then it is only an inversion or an increase in saturation only, not a change to the actual content of the picture.
I hope you find my pictures unusual, creative and in some cases inspiring. Everyone sees something different in my pictures. Enjoy!
Shop interesting .. Beautiful art pieces
Great experience .. good for you

Cindy was shy, NY photos intriguing and especially Times Square at 3 in the morning - great shot. By the way, Cindy is a great hostess and chef. How do I know this?

wao @markvance, time to have your hair cut turned to a time of exhibition for your work. lol
Your picture are quite creative, unique and highly prometheus. you sure did a bit of marketing for the saloon though. lol. i imagine have your pictures in my home. My wife just came in to check your pictures now on my laptop and she couldn't close her mouth.
i would like to ask how you got started on this journey and if you have any plan to impart your knowledge to the younger generations around us as it relates to the "picture that speaks life"

@markvance..... i have this kind of experience often as a writer and photographer visiting places just to get something done for yourself outa profession and you end up wearing your professional gloves immediately. I just see out places to relax but then before i could blink i'm already taking pictures and writing descriptions of them for my blog.
I hope you do have a collection of all your works?
I love what you are doing.
Regards

I love the raw, urban feel of your photography. It moves and moves me. One question for you, as it is something I struggled with in the past...how do you price your photos? Because you now have some street cred under your belt, so to speak, I'm sure pricing is vastly different now for you than it was when you began. Can you tell us a little about how a newbie should price their photos? Thanks so much!

Wow, that is a hard question! You should at least start by framing your pictures nicely. You should then charge at least two to three times what it cost to print and frame your picture. If they sell then after awhile try to increase the price a little. Good luck!

What should you do if you don't have the money for printing and framing? LOL...Thank you for answering. I did try Fine Art America, never sold a thing, also was on Pixoto, and one other site whose name escapes me at the moment, all duds. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Just leaves me more time to appreciate others' work!

It's always good to hear when businesses are prepared to support local talent and not just to support, but the realization that having art hanging in their space adds an important element to a space. It gives a space character, ambiance and a sense of what the people that work there are about. I think it's also important for business owners to remember that employees spend many hours of their life in that space and there should be an element of beauty within a work-space to add to the general well-being of the people that work there

Unique pictures, great to have them,
can you please write a post technically about fine art and the features that define an artwork as a fine-art?
I love your pictures too
