One legged Palm Warbler

in life •  7 years ago

Watch this video I got of a one legged Palm Warbler at Ackerman Park. Ackerman Park is part of the Celery Fields in Sarasota, Florida. I saw this little guy hopping around and noticed that he only had one leg. He seemed to be getting along just fine. He was in the same spot for many days. I would always look for him when I would come to this park. You can tell a Palm Warbler right away from the yellow on it's undertail. They also tend to pump their tails up and down. The Palm Warbler forages more on the ground than most warblers.

I didn't have any still pictures of a Palm Warbler myself, so I found this one on iBird Pro with the appropriate credit. You can see the yellow under it's tail.

Enjoy!

Thanks for great birds..i appreciate this nature..i like this life..best of luck...

Awesome. I have an old Audubon print with warblers. Need to find it to remember which type of warblers.

Thanks Steven.

It is impressive that birds so often can manage to get by with just one leg. And can't help but think about how terrible it must be for a bird to get the leg so badly hurt that it looses it.

Wonderful looking birds, i like this naturekeep it up dear friend

I like it its very nice

I have many birds in my house. In the mornings I can listen to their hullabaloo and see them from flower to flower. In the evenings they go in flock to sleep in the mountain. It would be great to be able to make shots like yours.

Great vid. We should call him Long John Warbler.

Great find! He looks like he's getting along just fine :)

Nice!
