Dr. Drew on Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu: must listen!!
This is an amazing podcast episode with Dr. Drew! Some great epiphanies:
• He talks about how the brain is imbedded in the body and how our consciousness is part of the whole body system. For instance he talks about how the Vegus nerve is part of the brain System.
• He says that we may not be the average of the five people we hang around with, because we may choose to hang around those people because of pre-existing attraction.
• Some people overcome addiction through an epiphany event by talking to someone that is different and with a new perspective. He says one of the greatest way to change our brain is to interact with another sprain.
• Rituals like Passover help relieve traumatic injury.
• He gets into Dr. Jordan Peterson territory by talking about that our country had the hero archetype up until the 60s and since then we have had the antihero archetype. He suggests we need to move back to the hero…& myth speaks to the nonrational part of our brain.
• There's a great discussion at the end where Tom Bilyeu shares how he started Impact Theory around the power of myth and they both agreed that myth is the way to speak to this generation. That narrative speaks to the subconscious mind, & how we need to communicate now.
• Another great Takeaway is that when we interact with another we are changing each other's brains. This idea alone should get you motivated to Connect more to new people.
Personally I really enjoyed this podcast because Dr. Drew and of course Tom are both polymaths. I too am a knowledge addict(polymath/scanner).
Cheers!
