The darkness

It's crazy, I've heard so many podcast recently touching on the subject of personal darkness. I don't know if this is because my brain is attuned to it, or if this is a cognitive shift. I can't remember all the sources… But here we go:

I think this started with the podcast Knowledge for Men and I believe they were talking about- instead of pushing away negative feelings, explore them. That if you have a time of problem-solving where you are overcome with negative self doubt, don't turn away from it, but begin to write it down and explore that out, and get it all out. They say that facing it will cause it to leave.

On Impact Theory, Tom had talked about the power of rage, but also using your darkness… I guess it's kind of like a power source, or an intense motivation.

Then there is the amazing Dr Jordan Peterson on the latest Joe Rogan podcast. He talks about Jung and the importance of addressing the shadow self. That in order to find meaning and transcend your purpose, you have to acknowledge and except your potential for evil, and at least some kind of awareness of your inner darkness.

On Duncan Trussell they talked abou- instead of running away from, or banishing your demons, that you should invite them in for tea, & sit with them for a minute, and then allow them to leave instead of being afraid to face the inner terror, face it and embrace it.

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with this information, but I will incorporate it with my own self awareness. A lot of this is something I already do because of my Christian heritage- the confession of sins.

What is your personal darkness ideology?
