Happy Sunday to every steemian.
May the peace of the lord be with you all.
Today I'll be sharing a piece I titled,
"Like A Dummy"
I met a friend some years ago and my experience with him changed my life.
This is not the whole romantic or love talk though. The experience was unromantic but, I learnt what I would never have learnt on a normal day.
I was having difficulties in understanding a particular lecture. The lecturer tried every possible means to put us through, but we still were not on the same page.

He resorted to telling us to use the internet and find out more on the topic.
I remember him telling us to download videos and textbooks to help us.
Everyone grabbed thier phones and gadgets to search immediately.
"Not now, after the class", he said.
He didn't want us to be distracted. Of course, the lecture wasn't over yet so using our gadgets would have been a big distraction.
After the lecture,I packed my bags and headed home. I put on my data and used google to search for the topic.
The answers I saw were discouraging.
They made me even more confused.
Amidst my worry,my then boyfriend walked in and asked what the matter was.
After I explained,he smiled at me.
He told me to search for it this way.
"Type the question you want to ask google, then after it,add for dummy",he said.
For instance "Drug distribution for dummy", instead of just "Drug distribution".
The first thoughts that came in were,
Am I a dummy? Maybe I really am that dumb.
I was so shocked as I placed my hands on my head.

I did what he said. The explanations I got were totally simplified and comprehensible.
I realised something that day and that's the reason for this piece.
In life,if you want to know, you have to accept your ignorance first.
So many times, our pride deprives us of the help we could have gotten if only we accepted we needed help.
So many times,we do not understand the things we should because we refused to accept that we are "dumb"(have no idea at all) on the subject matter.
Even in Christianity, we refuse to humble ourselves to God's guidance because we feel we know what suits us already.
A man once said that,
Every blessing you need in life is in your path of destiny and as such, you need to find your path in destiny first to be able to access your blessings.
There are certain blessings you may never have and heights you may never reach if you do not submit to God, to help you find your path in life.
You need to show your helplessness first to recieve help.
You need to accept your ignorance first so you can be taught.
You need to commune with God in prayers and recieve guidance from the Holy Sprit.
You need to accept how dumb you are so God can lead you

I'll like to summarize with these words,
"You may never get what you want, the way you want it until you act like a dummy."
Thanks for reading.
I love the way you draw out your inference from that story... Imagine if you had gotten angry with him that day for insinuating that you are a dummy... Humility always open doors of wisdom and many blessings.
Great piece!

I stumbled on the dummy series some years back and I have bought many of their books since then. If you just go online and type "wine making for dummies" for example , you'd find that there is an endless collection of books by different authors on other subjects on the site it leads to.
I have always loved DIY(do it yourself book).
You can find both hard and ebooks on the site. There's so much to learn.
Keep on being inquisitive!
