The world celebrates the great achievements of women on the 8th of March every year, which is known as International Women's Day (IWD). It is also an occassion to reflect on the challenges of the female gender, especially as regards inequality. There is great need, more than ever before, to empower women and girls. It's no wonder the IWD's campaign theme for 2018 is ''Press For Progress''. We continue to press for progress towards achieving gender parity.
A New Challenge?
As more women are getting into power, though, I see and experience women oppressing fellow women. How do we tackle this?

Hello @maryfavour ma'am,
First of all, I must say happy women's day on this occasion of female gender special day. To cut the encomium short, you are one of the few woman that can best be described as a woman of timber and caliber whose good deed is recognized by both her remote and immediate communities and society at large. You have been a pillar to many both online and offline and had helped erase tears from the eyes of victims of pitiable circumstances. And had helped those desperately in need even when they are not related to you. These things I have been taking notes of, these things have made me pay closer attention to you. And can only say Thank you and may God bless you immensely
This, to me, cannot be tackled as there is no strategy that would effectively deal with it. Life is all about survival of the fittest, very competitive. I believe the reason why people (women so to say) do this is to outshine one another which is normal as one must have a sense of competition to really achieve a worthwhile goal. *But I don't support oppression of fellow women in guise of competition. No. But in many cases of oppression, competition is the underlying factor that motivated that in the first place.
Thanks and do have a wonderful women's day

That indeed is unhealthy competition my brother. Instead of fighting a fellow woman over power, why don't you strive to be the best of what you can be?

I appreciate all the commendation and kind words, @eurogee.
It's good to know that you are not in support of women oppressing thier fellow women under the guise of competition. Well, there is no reason whatsoever for any human on earth to compete with another. I am not of that school of thought that to accomplish a worthwhile goal, I must compete with another. My competition is with myself, how better I am today than yesterday, based on personal standards/goals. Thanks once again for your support.

There will always be power tussles and I think women tackling fellow women for power is more healthy than the common fighting over Men(husbands)

It's good to see you here, @sussan. Yes, I absolutely agree with you that there'll always be power tussles and respect your view on the issue. Women who fight over men and vice versa are those who feel very insecure. This feeling of insecurity happens, because they are not busy pursuing their purpose in life. Personally, I am too busy fulfilling my mission and value myself highly to degenerate to the level of fighting over a man.
A more balanced behaviour of women empathising with their fellow women is what I would like to see in the near future. Thanks for your contribution, @sussan.

We need to enlighten women that if we do not encourage and strenghten ourselvez, nobody will. We certainly need to stop discouraging women because of the mypic ideas of women remaining indoors. Every woman must stand up and be the best of what she can and should be.

Women deserves more than what they are getting especially in the polity of Nigeria. The greatest achievements we have had ever since 1999 since the return of democracy is the handiwork of women in power. I will not forget the likes of Obiageli Ezekwesili, Okonjo Iweala, Nenadi Usman, late Dora Akunyili etc are women that have left indelible mark in the history of Nigeria. Nigeria has refused to make progress ever since politicians stopped including women in the political development of Nigeria. Especially now that a tyrant leader has refused to put women in his cabinet in this present dispensation. @maryfavour is a real woman and God bless you for all your good works. Happy women's day to all women in the world. Love ya!

What do you expect from an illeterate who believes in religating women to the background or wiping them totally from the surface of the earth?
