Greetings, travelers!
It's interesting how life can become really full really fast, and how I can be surprised by it another time.
Every single week at about this time I feel deeply grateful for having the privilege to be in therapy. Probably not coincidentally, I was talking to her about mindfulness and being present, which kind of spoils the end of this text, or maybe it allows me to infer deeper into the topic.
My hypothesis with this collection of words is that the concept of mindfulness is the same as the concept of Trying. The only way we can really try anything is by being honest with ourself and with the task. We're not children, we don't have anyone supervising and correcting every single step and production we make. We have to be true to ourselves in whatever we do, and not sporadically: in every single moment.
My therapist added to my discussion that being present is not the only necessity, but also being envolved in the moment. We need to be actively living, because passively being in the moment is the same as spectating a movie: you're distancing yourself from the happenings.
Trying, specially in this crazy changing existence we cohabit, is not even close to being a simple task; it takes energy, it takes time, it takes a damn whole lot of work. But it pays off. For you, for your loved ones, for the creatures that inhabit this planet with us. To be is to try.
I hope you try being happier, friend.
