My Steemit family. I have to tell you guys something!

For those of you who read my previous blog post, you know that I am(was) a door to door salesperson for a publically traded solar company.

For those of you who go door to door.....

You have my respect.

That job is terrible. Although I didn't want to do it, I did go to my designated neighborhood and went door to door. If a salesperson does make a sale, I do admit that it pays very well. But it is highly inefficient and definitely not the way that I want to do my business.

From horse-drawn to horse power

I really don't like going door to door. I don't like it at all. Even when I was being interviewed for the salesperson position, I was already thinking about ways that the sales position could be more time efficient and effective.

When I was talking to a few people about developing a new marketing strategy, I was constantly told the same thing.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel

I have seen multiple people go door to door and they have reached a level of success that I have never seen when it comes to a sales rep.

So the objection I would receive would be, "if these people are being successful going door to door, why do you want to reinvent the wheel? Just do what they do and you'll reach their success too."

Well, to me, it's like comparing a horse-drawn carriage and a Ferrari. Both of them will get you from Point A to Point B. But the Ferrari will get you to your destination MUCH FASTER. To me, the "wheel" is marketing but the marketing style determines effectiveness.

I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel. I'm trying to find a better marketing style that gets me to my destination faster and in a more effective way.

Marketing is marketing. I just want to develop a better marketing strategy.

When I told people in my office that I wanted to develop my own marketing style, they pretty much looked at me like I was crazy. To each their own. But I know that there is a better way and I'm willing to work to find that way. Innovation is necessary in order to become successful but most importantly, to remain successful.
