Hi steemians! I missed you so i thought I would drop in and say hi. I have been very busy lately trying to sort out my life. As most of you have guessed, I am back in Colorado to stay. My beloved Suburban and alot of my stuff remains in South Carolina, but we are all alive and well.
The reasons I left South Carolina in my book of mistakes.
You Can't Go Back Again
I lived in Myrtle Beach for two years when I was 20-21. Twenty years ago. It has grown up since then. Bigtime! The traffic is a constant and seemingly neverending snarl and the people drive like they have nothing to lose. It is no longer the homey, quiet place I remember. And, everywhere you look, there is a GMO soybean field or other Monsatan creation. There are planes flying around everywhere spraying roundup into the wind.Batshit Crazy Laws
I chose not to vaccinate my children. In South Carolina, you can only claim religious exemption and the State can call you on it, and then, if they determine you don't have a just reason for a religeous exemption, they can fine you and lock you up for thirty days for every vacccine missed. That's 49 vaccinations times 30 days each. That's over four years in jail for both parents. In that time they have taken your kids into custody and mass vaccinated them, which could be a death sentence.
- Crooked Tax System
When you move to South Carolina, you have to call a tax auditor to come to your house and inventory your personal belonings so you can pay property tax on them. Your furniture, your appliances and of course your cars and more. Like I said, crooked.
- Economics of a Driver
Before I left for South Carolina, I found out I was done paying child support on my oldest child. Now adult. They had placed numerous holds on my license over the years due to not me not paying, but her not reporting. Finally, she came clean and cancelled the order and my license was at long last restored for good. I tried to join a trucking company who provides training, but I have to have my license back for over 1.5 years before they will let me join.
I tried to sign up as a taxi driver but they want a year. So I contacted Uber and they said ok, so I did that. My wife and I bought a 2015 Nissan Versa and I started driving at night after the kids went to bed. I would drive 10 to 12 hours, then head home. I didn't even clear $300. For contrast, my first day two days ago in Denver, I made $215. Business is booming in Denver I can make really good money here for once. I got my wife hooked on Uber. She has done more trips than me and got to 50 in just 3 days, earning me a handsome bonus.
- My Wife's Family
My wife thought she was ready to live far away, but I saw sadness in her everytime we talked of Colorado. I was sad too, but less so, I have lived far from my family most of my adult life.
- What I Learned
I should have done my homework on South CaroChina before I moved there.
Colorado doesn't let you have a twenty round magazine, but they recognize the parents as the law when it concerns our children.
It is not even close to as comfortable to sleep 5 in a Versa Note as it is a beat up old Suburban. Hell, we slept six and a medium dog in the 'burban.
My children despise authority almost as much as I do. The are freedom freaks!
There was an impending sense of doom looming over me the day we left. I don't know if it was just jitters or what. But it saved us from a great deal of distress. Conway is hurting bad from hurricane Matthew. There is no power. There is no food or water at the grocery stores, nor any ice. There is widespread flooding as well.
I am going back in a week or so to retrieve my belongings. We have to help anyway we can. We made some friends while we were there.
Anyway, just thought I would share this in case anyone was wondering.I am very busy with Uber and my kids, but, I will try to keep you informed.Farewell for now beloved audience. I shall return soon.

It will help me and get you a bonus too!
Real life just seems to happen!! I've spent some time in Myrtle Beach about 6 years past and it was quite crazy then, though I have no prior experience there to compare it to. I am from Colorado and have it still in my heart. I hope it treats you well--though it is also not the same as it used to be.
Keep standing up for those kids, blessing their freedom and right to a healthy existence. Upvoting and following you.

It used to be a pretty quiet place except for the beach area. Now it is gridlock and statism. This from the state that stood up first. Sadness for SC.
Thank you for your beautiful comment!

@sirwinchester made a quote the other day. "Troubles are what makes life interesting, overcoming them makes life worth living."

Whoa! I had no idea S. Carolina was that bad!
My husband's company has been trying to recruit him to headquarters, but that's in N.C. - and still not a place we want to move to. We're either staying in Florida, but our options remain open as he loves Tennessee and Montana.
He's currently helping emergency teams with Lowes on the eastern side. They didn't need to ship him up to the Carolinas, but he is helping with northern Florida and I won't see him for another week.
Life. Meh. It is what we make of it, isn't it? Anyways, I'm really glad to hear that you're back where your wife is closer to family and in a land that you love. Best wishes and we'll see you soon, brother pepper. :)

Yeah, maybe we will retire there, but it's no place to raise kids. I subscribe to the idea that I am my childrens first and most significant teacher and I won't let the State tell me what's best for mine.
I am back where I belong, I am glad too. Thanks so much sister pepper !

Those vaccine laws are crazy! I never heard of the jail time before. Is that only if they want to go to school? What if you homeschool?

Well, the vaccine law is across the board. They pave your children in a database to track their vaccinations. As far as homeschooling, it is much like the vaccine laws. You can do it, but the "law" can still determine that you are unfit to provide a homeschool education for your children. The truancy laws are ferocious! It truly felt like there was a noose around our necks, and any way we moved other than their prescribed direction would cause strangulation. I've never felt so trapped by my morals and beliefs before!
And we won't even get started on the human trafficking problem that is rampant by myrtle beach! Ugh
