Hello Steemians,
This time I want to tell you about my flash trip to NYC! I have to say this is one of the most (if not the most) amazing city I have been on. Ever since I was a kid I dreamed about going to New York, so when I got the chance I didn’t hesitate on taking a bus all by myself from Philadelphia to New York City. At first I was really scared, I have to admit, I had never been on a trip all alone before, but it was pretty awesome!! You get to know the place you are visiting form a total different perspective and I felt really good!!
I arrived to NY for the first time in my life all alone and didn’t exactly know where to start or what to do, I just had my purse with some extra close, my phone and a list of to do things that some friends recommended me.
I got out the bus and I couldn’t even believe I was standing there, it felt so magical and unreal, like I was on a movie or something, I mean, it was my first time surrounded by all those giant buildings!!
The first thing I did, since I was close to it, was visiting the 9/11 memorial, which is a memorial commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks. The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers that were destroyed during the attack. It is really amazing and beautiful; I would say it is a must visit if you’ve never been there. The place just speaks by itself, you feel this amazing vibes and peacefulnes.
From there you can also take a close view of the One World Trade Center tower, also known as Freedom Tower, this is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the sixth-tallest in the world. The tower is very imposing; it is just amazing!!
I didn’t get to visit the memorial’s museum because I didn’t have enough time, it is still in my check list and I hear is pretty amazing.
After this I visited the Brooklyn bridge, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, it is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States. Again, really amazing and imposing (as pretty much everything in this city).
After the bridge I just walked a lot around NYC streets, I passed by The Empire State Building, located on the west side of Fifth Avenue, this building was the highest building in the world for more than 40 years!! And I also passed by Times Square, pretty amazing all the stores, publicity, lights, just everything!! I didn’t get to know it any better but it is definitely in my bucket list too.
The day was almost over, and at last I went on a ferry that takes you around the statue of liberty. This ferry is very nice because it is for free and it also is a restaurant, you just have to pay for what you consume. I went on the ferry with some friends, we watched the sunset from here and the amazing Statue of Liberty as well as NYC skyline (The first photo of this post was also taken from the boat).
The next (and last) day I went to The High Line, an elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail which is 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km). It was created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. This is such a fun park where you can get away from the city and find some art, nature and fresh air. I didn’t actually take much pictures here so here are some I found so you can take a look at the place.

Last but not least, I went to Governor's Island, where you can find free arts, cultural events, and recreational activities. The island is accessed by ferries from Brooklyn and Manhattan and the ferry only costs 5$. I just walked around the park, ate some waffles and enjoyed the beautiful sunset with Manhattan’s skyline.
I wish I can go back to this amazing city very soon, I truly loved it!!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that it was somehow useful and entertaining for you! I know I have to go back and visit a lot of places that I wasn’t able to, you can also comment and recommend to me what should I add to my NYC bucket list!
Also, let me know if you would like me to post in both, English and Spanish version! :)
See you soon guys!!
Thanks for taking the time to check my post!
Bye bye!
Very nice and good for you! To think that I lived in Toronto for 35 years and I never made it to NY!!! My wife reminds me all the time but now that we live in Europe it's very far!
