The life of a circus performer and learning the art of using irrelevent blog titles

And so the quest continues/ It's probably time for an update.

It feels like life is a bit of a juggling act right now. My days are looking like this:

  • Organising the sale of my business while still running my business.
  • Managing my increasingly challenging finances (i.e. learning the art of saying "I'll pay you tomorrow" in 13 different ways).
  • Hunting for that all important job.
  • Endless streams of job applications, company research/ interview preparation and interviews.
  • And now juggling pre-employment screening while waiting for a better offer from a more reputable employer.

Right now, I'm sitting on a train. I'm on my way home after an interview for a position with the Victorian government. It was one of the more challenging interviews that I've completed so far. I've never had an interview which included a psychologist as one of the panel members before. It was quite an intense experience.

What was interesting about this interview was that a couple of minutes prior to going into the boardroom to meet the panel, I received a series of emails from a company that I interviewed with last week. They're offering me a position, and a decent one at that. The problem is, the position that I interviewed for today pays less, but is a better position. There would also be less expenses involved with me taking the government role, since I'll be travelling less and won't need to work remotely. And it's quite likely that I'll be offered the government position as well.

So it looks like I'll need to start employing some delay tactics so that I can wait a couple of weeks to see what other (if any) job offers come my way.

I'm pleased that there's at least one job offer coming my way though. I'm still waiting on the outcome of the South Australian position that I interviewed for last week though, that role is definitely the best of the bunch: Great pay, excellent work, good roster and work / life balance. And the position would allow me to live in Adelaide once again which is the ultimate goal.

And amongst all this is finding time to be a husband. My wife is definitely feeling neglected at the moment. My wife is incredibly patient, but once this mission to find paid employment is complete I think I owe the lovely lady a weekend away.

But things are starting to look positive, having a job offer in the pipes is fantastic and gives me hope that things will start to get better sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed for that South Australian job though!

I hope you don't mind these ulog style posts. I have the mental equivalent of tunnel vision right now so writing about life in general is the best option for me at the moment.
