A man and his cave

It's funny how something so silly can be so important to me. Since Hurricane Irma's visit I've been without my wood shop just thinking about different projects I wanted to tackle as soon as Hurricane season was over. As you can imagine my small shed became storage for almost everything in our backyard, and just thinking about the work of putting everything back to normal made me postpone the task.

But something happened last week that made it more stressful than I would like to admit, and I simply needed to have my creative space back. Its interesting how this tiny shed at the end of my garden has become the most effective therapy for my soul. Spending hours building guitars not only has given me a way to make some extra money doing something I enjoy, but the perfect escape mechanism when anxiety tries to barge in.

I do however, find it very interesting that I became one of those men who need a hobby to retain his sanity, but I'm comforted by the fact that there are many of us out there who like to build these metaphorical caves where our worries get drowned by the noise of our tools.

Some of my best childhood memories are working in my grandfather's shop and sometimes a neighbor's woodshop. Its a great hobby and the guitar is absolutely beautiful!

Thank you for the compliment... there is something special about a shop without a doubt... I love seeing other people's shop, in my opinion you can learn a lot about someone by looking at his tools. Cheers

I have to be creative to. It's something I think we all need in some measure. Your guitar looks amazing, by the way.

Thank you!!! all the best

I so admire luthiers and instrument makers of all kinds, @meno. The love and passion that you guys put into your work is extraordinary. I was a pro musician for almost 30 years, I play button accordion. My instrument was hand built by a guy in Australia, I love owner it, knowing it was built after consultations between us. Keep up the good work and I hope you soon have everything back on track. Followed and upvoted.

Thank you for stopping by @inseasia , I appreciate your comment and upvote... do you have pictures of your instrument? I would love to see it? Cheers mate

Without my creative outlets I'm a sad, former shell of myself. Amazing how expressing ourselves allows us to offer the world a better us. Not only our finished products but our rejuvenated souls. Your guitar is absolutely beautiful!
