Welcome back!
Ten days since my first installment, wow, I've just been too busy Steeming! Anyways, here we go. A good Steemian friend of mine brought my attention towards an Empath test, to shed light on what kind of Empath I am. I find little curious tests like this intriguing and sometimes enlightening toward understanding myself. Sometimes, they are a complete waste, like which Star Wars character are you, lol. While I agreed with the results of this one, I was inspired to follow the trail of other tests linked at the bottom of the page. I bumped into a couple I found interesting, but one I found extra inspiring. Which led me here, to The Corkboard, to share my results. Getting to know each other is key to community, and I don't mind being the first to share, so why not break the ice. Ironically, I bumped into the 16 Personalities Test, which I have heard a lot about, and can be quiet accurate and revealing. As you will see, this inspiration led to more inquiry and tests, enjoy. I'm going to share my results here, and then maybe a little input afterwards (or maybe I'll reserve my thoughts for your thoughts!):

ENFP (Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving)
As an ENFP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system.
ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it.
ENFPs have an unusually broad range of skills and talents. They are good at most things which interest them. Project-oriented, they may go through several different careers during their lifetime. To onlookers, the ENFP may seem directionless and without purpose, but ENFPs are actually quite consistent, in that they have a strong sense of values which they live with throughout their lives.
An ENFP needs to feel that they are living their lives as their true Self, walking in step with what they believe is right. They see meaning in everything, and are on a continuous quest to adapt their lives and values to achieve inner peace. They're constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with themselves.
ENFPs are charming, ingenuous, risk-taking, sensitive, people-oriented individuals with capabilities ranging across a broad spectrum. They have many gifts which they will use to fulfill themselves and those near them, if they are able to remain centered and master the ability of following through.
ENFP Strengths
- Curious โ When it comes to new ideas, ENFPs aren't interested in brooding โ they want to go out and experience things, and don't hesitate to step out of their comfort zones to do so. ENFPs are imaginative and open-minded, seeing all things as part of the big, mysterious puzzle called life.
- Observant โ ENFPs believe that there are no irrelevant actions, that every shift in sentiment, every move and every idea is part of something bigger. To satisfy their curiosity, ENFPs try to notice all of these things, and to never miss a moment.
- Energetic and Enthusiastic โ As they form new connections and ideas, ENFPs won't hold their tongues โ they're excited about their findings, and share them with anyone who'll listen. This infectious enthusiasm has the dual benefit of giving ENFPs a chance to make more social connections, and of giving them a new source of information and experience, as they fit their new friend's opinions into their existing ideas.
- Excellent Communicators โ It's a good thing that ENFPs have such strong people skills, or they'd never express their ideas. ENFPs enjoy both small talk and deep, meaningful conversations, which are just two sides of the same coin for them, and are adept at steering conversations towards their desired subjects in ways that feel completely natural and unforced.
- Know How to Relax โ It's not all โnature of the cosmosโ discussions with ENFPs โ people with this personality type know that sometimes nothing is as important as simply having fun and experiencing life's joys. This Intuitive trait lets ENFPs know that it's time to shake things up, and these wild bursts of enthusiastic energy can surprise even their closest friends.
- Very Popular and Friendly โ All this adaptability and spontaneity comes together to form a person who is approachable, interesting and exciting, with a cooperative and altruistic spirit and friendly, empathetic disposition. ENFPs get along with pretty much everyone, and their circles of friends stretch far and wide.
ENFP Weaknesses
- Poor Practical Skills โ When it comes to conceiving ideas and starting projects, especially involving other people, ENFPs have exceptional talent. Unfortunately their skill with upkeep, administration, and follow-through on those projects struggles. Without more hands-on people to help push day-to-day things along, the ENFP's ideas are likely to remain just that โ ideas.
- Find it Difficult to Focus โ ENFPs are natural explorers of interpersonal connections and philosophy, but this backfires when what needs to be done is that meaty report sitting right in front of them. It's hard for ENFPs to focus and maintain interest when tasks drift towards routine, administrative matters, and away from broader concepts.
- Overthink Things โ ENFPs don't take things at face value โ they look for underlying motives in even the simplest things. It's not uncommon for ENFPs to lose a bit of sleep asking themselves why someone did what they did, what it might mean, and what to do about it.
- Get Stressed Easily โ All this overthinking isn't just for their own benefit โ ENFPs, especially turbulent ones, are very sensitive, and care deeply about other's feelings. A consequence of their popularity is that others often look to them for guidance and help, which takes time, and it's easy to see why ENFPs sometimes get overwhelmed, especially when they can't say yes to every request.
- Highly Emotional โ While emotional expression is healthy and natural (with ENFPs even viewing it as a core part of their identity), it can come out intensely, which can cuase problems for this personality type. Particularly when under stress, criticism or conflict, ENFPs can experience emotional bursts that are counter-productive at best, and destructive at worst.
- Independent to a Fault โ ENFPs loathe being micromanaged and restrained by heavy-handed rules โ they want to be seen as highly independent masters of their own fates, even possessors of an altruistic wisdom that goes beyond draconian law. The challenge for ENFPs is that they live in a world of checks and balances, a pill they are not happy to swallow.
How ENFPs Show Others That They Care
Cancels their plans. Stays by your side. Dissects each of your problems and offers unconventional solutions. Advocates loudly. Listens intently. Shows up in your hour of need to you to shoulder the load. Accepts your atrocities. Celebrates your brilliance. Allows your darkness and your light to coexist. Explains that theirs have always coexisted too.

ENFP In Summary ...
Warmly enthusiastic and imaginative. See life as full of possibilities. Make connections between events and information very quickly, and confidently proceed based on the patterns they see. Want a lot of affirmation from others, and readily give appreciation and support. Spontaneous and flexible, often rely on their ability to improvise and their verbal fluency.
Whoa! That was a good bit to take in. Thank you lonerowolf for the test, and results! Thank you @eaglespirit for sending me their direction. This one is very solid across the board. Being based off the MBTI (Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator), I'm not surprised, but still quick and simple to take. Would love to see everyone comment their type. Mine is obviously ENFP! Test HERE
Also influenced by Carl Jung, like the next test I found enlightening, combined with the archetypes from the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI), we move along to the next #free comprehensive Archetype Test. Again, hosted by lonerwolf. This breaks down the driving influences of your inner being by percentage. There are twelve, go figure, but I will just feature my top four. They hold greater than 10% each, so I find them to be the dominating archetypes in my personality. There were a couple of details on these that rang a bell. I think these will help anyone seeking to understand themselves further. Also kind of cool ๐.
๐The Seeker - 13%๐
The Seeker leaves the known to discover and explore the unknown. This inner-rugged individual braves loneliness and isolation to seek out new paths. Often oppositional, this iconoclastic archetype helps us discover our uniqueness, our perspectives and our callings. Seekers are looking for something that will improve their life in some way, but in doing so they may not realize that they have a lot already inside of themselves. They embrace learning and are ambitious, and often tend to avoid the encumbrance of support from others. Needing to "do it themselves," they keep moving until they find their goal (and usually their true self too).
Shadow Side: The perfectionist. This will manifest itself in your life as the tendency to always strive to measure up to an impossible goal or to find the โrightโ solution. We see this shadow element in people whose main life activity is self-improvement: going from health club to health club, traveling the world, bouncing back and forth through self-improvement seminars and workshops, etc. If this sounds like you, you might wind up feeling as though you haven't really accomplished anything through a lack of commitment.
Life Goal: Search for a better way (better life)
Fear: Conformity, entrapment
Response to Problem: Leave it, escape it, take off
Life Task: Be true to a Higher Self
Personal Gifts: Autonomy, ambition, identity, expanded possibilities
Personal Pitfalls: Inability to commit, chronic disappointment, alienation and loneliness
๐ฅThe Creator - 11%๐ฅ
The Creator archetype fosters all imaginative endeavors, from the highest art to the smallest innovation in lifestyle or work. Being adverse to inactivity, the Creator can sometimes cause overload in our lives with constant new projects that are never quite fulfilled. However, when properly channeled, the Creator archetype can help us to express ourselves in beautiful ways. Creators, fearing that all is an illusion, seek to prove reality outside of their minds. A critical part of their quest is to find and accept themselves, discovering their true identity in relation to the external world.
Shadow Side: Avoidance. This will manifest itself in your life by the tendency to fill your inner feelings of emptiness with many different inessential projects, challenges and new things to do. One variety of this habit is workaholism, in which you are constantly pushing yourself to create, produce and to do more.
Life Goal: Creation of new life (identity)
Fear: Abomination, failure (inauthenticity)
Response to Problem: Embrace it as part of the Self
Life Task: Self-creation, self-acceptance
Personal Gifts: Creativity, vision, individuality, aesthetics, imagination, skill, vocation
Personal Pitfalls: Self-indulgence, creating messes, prima donna behaviors
๐ฉThe Magician - 11%๐ฉ
Probably my personal favoriteImage Source: lonerwolf.com
The Magician archetype searches out the fundamental laws of science and/or metaphysics to understand how to transform situations, influence people, and make visions into realities. If the Magician can overcome the temptation to use power manipulatively, they galvanize their energy for good. The Magician's symbolic quest is not to "do magic," but to transform or change something or someone in some way. The Magician has significant power and as such may be feared. They may also fear themselves and their potential to do harm. Perhaps their ultimate goal is to transform themselves, achieving a higher plane of existence.
Shadow Side: The sorcerer. This will manifest itself in your life through the manipulative use of your knowledge and insights (e.g. black mail, playing God, gaslighting, etc.). Furthermore, you engage in "sorcery" any time you belittle yourself or another person, lesson possibilities and close doors.
Life Goal: Transformation into greater realities
Fear: Negative transformation
Response to Problem: Transform it or heal it
Life Task: Alignment with the Cosmos
Personal Gifts: Personal power, ability to transform, serving as a catalyst, healing power
Personal Pitfalls: Manipulation of others, disconnection with reality
๐The Sage - 11%๐
The Sage archetype seeks the truths that will set us free. If the Sage has overcome the temptation of dogma, this can result in wisdom and the ability to see the world and others objectively. The Sage is a seeker of truth and enlightenment and journeys far in search of the next golden nugget of knowledge. The danger for the Sage is the deep seated fear that their hard-won wisdom is built on the sands of falsehood. However, the Sage has hope that through honesty, they will learn to see life with clarity.
Shadow Side: The judge. This will manifest itself in your life as the tendency to be cold, rational, heartless, dogmatic, even pompous โ evaluating others in an unfair or insensitive manner.
Life Goal: Truth, understanding
Fear: Deception, illusion
Response to Problem: Study it, understand it, transcend it
Life Task: Attain wisdom
Personal Gifts: Wisdom, non-attachment, knowledge, skepticism
Personal Pitfalls: Being overly critical, pomposity, impracticality, lacking of feeling/empathy
How cool, right? You can see how a couple of these play into each other. Starts to explain those driving keynote personality traits. I really enjoy the aspect of The Magician. When I was younger, I much enjoyed learning magic tricks to use in conversation and meeting new people. I enjoy the imagery we have painted of magicians, the mystery, romanticism, cleverness, and artistry all rolled into one. This archetype is kind of similar in it's traits, rightfully named if you ask me. One of my biggest stances is against the squandering of power, or nefarious manipulating of your fellow humans, but support the idea of creating an enchanted experience to share with other. It's like the inner child in me wanting to keep it alive in everyone else. The combination of the Magician and the Sage archetypes, in my opinion, kind of speak to the unique nature of my old-soul/child-like personality. Combining the genuine wonderment & beauty of the world, unhinged by rules or fear of the impossible, with what seems like a calm wisdom, understanding, or draw towards it that helps me not sweat the small stuff and love genuinely. I have always considered my self blessed mentally and emotionally. Second task, I would love to see everyone's top ruling archetypes (maybe add the percentages)! If you feel so inclined to comment further on yours or mine, please do. I encourage the chatter.
Last but not least, my temperament! With this final Test, we rewind our influences back to and ancient four type personality test to determine if you are Choleric, Phlegmatic, Sanguine or Melancholic by nature. Apparently, I'm Melancholic. This seems like my inner inner soul. I truly enjoy people, and meeting new ones, but when you step past a surface engagement and into a true friendship with me, these traits tend to show up. It's strange how we compartmentalize our relationships like this, but obviously it's a protection measure of sorts. Here is their run down on this temperament:
By nature, the melancholic temperament is idealistic, solitary, introspective, and sensitive.
Melancholics perceive the world with intensity, possessing high ideals and a constant inner turmoil that revolves around their ideals of perfection and the imperfect external world.
The melancholic's idealism causes them to be highly perfectionistic. They are known to excel in any creative field they embark in, due to a combination of their perfectionism and their heightened sensitivities to emotions and the subtleties of beauty. Their creative work is often hindered, however, by procrastination, as their desire for perfection paralyses them to start anything.
Often, the melancholic's perfectionism can result in social isolation. Holding themselves, and other people, to their unrealistically high standards makes them difficult to relate to, and also to please. It also makes them self-deprecating. Sometimes, for instance, they can think that they're not interesting enough, even if deep down they know that this isn't true. This is partly why the melancholic prefers spending time alone.
Perhaps the most introverted temperament of all four, melancholics are slow, cautious and reserved in how they approach life. They crave time alone and only associate themselves with a few people that share their standards and ideals.
Melancholics need alone time to brood and slowly think things through, as they never decide impulsively. Melancholics feel that this combination of slow introspection and deep sensitivity is what gives them great analytical abilities. Melancholics are often prone to reflecting on how they feel about different elements of life. Once they reach a conclusion, they can become quite stubborn-minded, as they feel they can't be wrong with such a carefully considered opinion.
The melancholic's sensitivity can be both a gift and a curse. On one hand, their sensitivity can make them very thoughtful and conscientious. They are naturally compassionate, considerate and self-sacrificing, always focusing on justice and goodness. On the other hand, the Melancholic can become frequently preoccupied with the tragedy and cruelty that happens around them. Occasionally they can fixate on tragic memories from their pasts, entering phases of depression and moodiness. Additionally, they can get hurt easily due to their perfectionistic ideals, especially when someone is critical of their work.
The melancholic rarely responds to things they dislike with rage, preferring a more passive emotional withdrawal such as misery or crying in solitude. Once a person the melancholic trusted loses their credibility, they can hold a grudge against them indefinitely. This is why they're often perceived as moody and hard to interact with, because they can get hurt so easily.
Famous Melancholic Temperaments: Ernest Hemingway, St. Francis, Van Gogh, Beethoven and St. Catherine of Siena.
Career Choices: Artist, Writer, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Scientist, Mechanic, Engineer, Analyst.
Planet: Saturn.
Symbolic Animal: Beaver, Owl.
I do find myself able to balance some of the more extreme qualities, but I think that is something each of us should seek, balance. I don't respond with anger, but also don't find myself crying alone in a dark room, for example. As you find balance in your life, you will see yourself curbing these extreme qualities in your personalty types, in my opinion. So, finally, I would love for you to also share your Temperament! I know this is a lot of sharing and getting to know each other, but this kind of stuff fascinates me, as you can probably tell from my personalty type ๐. I hope everyone enjoyed pulling the curtain back on Mental Extract, and also hope you learn something new about yourself that helps bring peace and tranquility to your being! It just seemed relevant since it's sharing personal details, and introducing ourselves to each other in a different way, but I'll think twice next time. Allow me to fix it.
