Living with a mental health illness or not, we know stigma about mental health illnesses exist but maybe not how bad it can get. It can be moderate where people just don't understand and make you feel alienated or upset by how they speak to you.

My own parents don't listen or understand but the worst part for me is that they think its as simple as just getting a job and carrying on. This mentality is what got me ill, the 'keep calm and carry on' doesn't help, it just keeps the build up of underneath stress and emotional distress. If anyone keeps going on and on, that build up will go bang, know one is invincible.

This stupid attitude about mental health by so many, is what is causing many more cases of mental illnesses than there could have been. All people have to do is talk but somewhere in the past something went wrong and talking openly about mental health seemed to be frowned upon, maybe the past world wars did this when country's had to carry on and this warped vision carried on after but who knows exactly how it happened.

The important thing now to defeat stigma is to follow by example and talk openly about it but most importantly bring the future generations up that its as important to talk about it as physical health, this is where the battle will be won. Its hard to change a grown adults mind but we can bring up the future generations to know the importance of mental health and that its not weak to open up, its strong and brave.
