A new beginning or a setback?steemCreated with Sketch.

One of my main freelance gigs, which happened to be a steady paycheck for a couple of years has reorganized and I've been "reorganized" out of said steady gig. meh.

Instead of panic I choose to look at this as a new beginning instead of a setback because the only 2 things that I can think of to say is:

Well, that sucks - and - #fuckit

I've really been through worse things and I knew it was coming but I held out hope that it wasn't going to be a full expulsion. No ill will to my former team. They are an amazing group of people and I hope that once the dust settles, we'll be called back to do more work again. Seriously. No one's burned any bridges.

Maybe the universe was telling me something when I woke up this morning with a migraine.

Normally I can get ahead of a migraine once I start to feel the pain and pressure on the left side of my head behind my eye. This morning, it was full on with nausea and vomiting so all I could do was chase it down and try to kill it.

I'm not in panic mode...yet.
I've already got 5 applications out and all the big bills are covered for February so technically, I've got about 2-3 weeks before I need to be generating some kind of income.

And now that I have some time, I'll be going full bore with MY projects that were put on hold because work stuff.

So... Yeah... FUCKIT. This is an opportunity not a setback. We just have to tighten our belts until something works itself out. A YES would be great. If you pray or talk to the universe, please put in a good word for me. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

A new & a better Beginning for us all... Amen

That's an amazing attitude! I like it.

There's bigger and better around the corner, keep your focus :)

Thanks, @karenb54
I put in 5 applications today and I'm going to take another half hour to search some more this evening.
There are other options like eBay, looking for more writing gigs, updating Fiverr (wow, I haven't been there in YEARS), and putting feelers out. Thanks to our previous experiences, I've been pretty frugal so Feb. bills are covered. I've got 1 month maximum to find something. I'm focused! And thank you for checking in.

You are more than welcome :)

You'll find something good... because you've been playing the self-employed and freelance gig for a really long time. And that makes a difference.

Yeah, something amazing is around the corner!

Thank you, @denmarkguy - it's so good to see you!
And what have you been doing with yourself? Hopefully you've rebound from the shop and on to bigger, better things?

I have to admit that I got complacent because I'd had that gig and was pretty happy with steady money. I did it to myself but you're right, I have been doing this for a while and something always comes up. The big bills are paid and I've still got a few weeks of breathing room. By then, I'm confident that things will pick up. I've got a lot of feelers out.

I know I'm a hard worker. Why dedicate time and soul to someone else's dream? The problem is, my vision is going to take time. LOL The struggle is real!

There is definitely life after shopkeeping! For the most part, I'm back to being an editor; books mostly. It has been a slow start and pretty slow going... it's what I used to do, but there's a lot more competition these days from people in SE Asia with English degrees from US Universities.

I still write. I still work on art. My wife and I still have our non-profit. I'm still pretty active with this-and-that on eBay.

The struggle is definitely real! But then again, nobody ever said that Living the Creative Life was going to be easy...

I'm really glad to hear that you've rebound. There was a point in time that it seemed we were both going through parallel hardships. The unknown, quite frankly, sucks. Editing is definitely a competitive field. Is there a genre that you lean toward?

Least you got the migraine and the work cut out of the way in one go x_x hope something awesome comes your way if that needed to be cleared out first :)
