Have you ever heard or taste Hodugwaja? It has walnut shape cake filled with adzuki paste and piece of walnut.
It has known that one grandmother had started to sell in Cheonan, Korea since 1930.
After then, it became popular one of the common snack in South Korea.
It can be easily find every store in highway rest area and everybody knows and has experience to have this.

It is selling everywhere but Cheonan is famous of its original taste.
Whenever I visit Cheonan, I likes to buy Hodugwaja. Hodugwaja is not just snack, it includes childhood memory to everybody.
There are many Hodugwaja stores located before access Cheonna interchage. I visited one of that store.
and then I found new version of Hodugwaja. It was not changed almost at all for over 80 years.
This is new version. It is called fried soboru Hodugwaja. Seller said it is launched 2 years ago.
But this is the first time I met this, it looks still selling only in Cheonan.
It is much bigger than old version and taste is little bit different. Not that much sweet, it is mild.
I like crispy outer of new version.^^
I bought one box of crispy new one for my family. I hope it would be a good small gift to my child.
