How many times do you walk the same path in your daily life? Over and over your feet follow the same pattern. It's become habit, it's become just another part of your day. You no longer have to pay attention to where you step, to where you turn, to where you are.
I guess that's normal as a human being. Trying to put the mundane into a box so that we can pay attention to more important things. After all, we are supposed to be evolving into ever more complex beings and what's so important about a morning walk to work? It's not going anywhere, but you want to. And work is putting so many demands on the limited consciousness we have.
And that's where the problem lies. In forgetting to pay attention to those mundane moments. Taking for granted the things we think will always be there forever. We habitualize not paying attention. It creeps up on us without us noticing. Soon, other daily moments are taken for granted, slotted into the 'pay attention later, maybe' as we keep looking for stuff we think is more important.
That weekly conversation with your mom, because she always wants to know how you're doing...how much of what she says do you really listen to...that first cup of coffee for the day over a busy breakfast table with your significant other...rushing to get everything together before heading off to work...thinking that that slow Saturday morning cup is any more significant than this rushed Tuesday morning brew...
Ask yourself what you think is important in life.
Is it waiting for moments you think are special, or realizing that every moment you have is special? I get that paying attention and being present is hard. Really, really hard. It means expending some of your limited energy in a truly draining world. But, the more you do it, the better you get at it, and you will be surprised by all the new things you notice.
You never know what beauty you might run across on your morning walk that you never noticed before. :)
Have an amazing day everyone!
Michael

Life is beautiful. That is why photos can be important-- to focus in on a particular moment. A moment that lasts 1 second and you can take it for granted. Put the phones down and have gratitude for everything around you!

Hehe, yeah, that's the thing. Instead of always looking for a picture you have to be open to just experiencing the moment. Every time I pass this alley I check to see how the light looks...or rather, a lot of the time. No one's perfect :)
