This means that the agricultural sector plays an important role and should be a driver of economic activity. Based on data from BPS 2014, the population working in the agricultural sector amounts to 38,973,033 people or 40 percent of the total productive age population, while the remaining 60 percent is spread across various sectors outside agriculture (BPS, 2014). The agricultural sector itself is divided into various sub sectors.
