The products sold in the classic stores are 38% more expensive, 15 euro or 20 usd, on average, compared to similar products traded online by the same retailer, according to a study conducted by Retail Data Monitoring at the command of the Romanian Online Shop Association ARMO). According to the study, when buying a TV from a classic store, buyers pay an average of 212 lei, or 6% of the value of the product, unless they buy online from the same retailer.

Also 6% are more expensive and the vacuum cleaners, respectively, 7 euro, while the cost of a iron can be up to 12% higher in a physical shop than an online one.

For small household appliances, buyers lose an average of 3euro, equivalent to 4% of the cost of the product if it is purchased directly from the same store's physical store.

"The difference in price between offline and online is due to higher costs associated with operating a physical store, rent, maintenance, warehouse, and higher staff costs. Online is more efficient for the retailer, which is reflected in a better price for the buyer.

Apart from the fact that for 88% of the analyzed products the online price is less than or equal to the one offline, the client also has the advantage of a quick and convenient way of doing shopping, avoiding crowded stores, greater availability of the product and the ability to compare prices across multiple stores.

In addition, depending on the retailer, he even has 30 days to return the product if he is considering the acquisition and value-added services such as free delivery or opening of the parcel at delivery, "said Florinel Chis, executive director of ARMO.

The category with the highest percentage of products with higher offline prices than online is that of ironing. Thus, 57% of the analyzed products proved to be on average 10 to 20 . euros more expensive.

Second, the monitors ranked with 45%, followed by small appliances (38%), washing machines and refrigerators (36%).

The study also shows that 50% of products have the same price on both online and offline channels.

The survey was conducted in urban areas on a sample of 1,733 products in the categories: small and large electronics, electronics, IT and telephones, available in retail chains with online and offline presence.
