Setting Goals.png

I'm not reinventing the wheel today. Definitely not!
But I want to share you my learning why setting Goals for yourself should be important to you.

Maybe you read already a lot of How important it is to set goals posts in your life. Maybe you are the type of person who rejects this. Some people think that setting goals in life are counterproductive. But I think it's essential.

Here is why.png

For me setting goals is not just a milestone I want to achieve. Yes, this is a part of it, but the last part. More important is how I will reach the milestone or how I plan to achieve it.

The way is more important than the finish line. On the way to your goal, you will make changes; you will face difficulties, need to figure out a solution to move on. The way is the part where your character and knowledge evolve. What forms your personality.

When you pass your way successfully, you can enjoy reaching you goal much deeper because you know where you have been through.

But here is the Point. When there is no Goal, in the beginning, there will be no way to go!

Ok, I have to correct myself. Of course, there is a way, but you will not go him so conscious without a goal before your eyes.

Setting goals are like a red thread, a radar, a compass which helps to navigate. It helps to organize your life around it. Let's be honest.

You are setting goals in different areas of your life, but your life does not exist only in that area.

You know what I mean? To have goals helps you to live your life apart from this area also carefully. Let me tell you; this is so important! What happens in areas of your life which aren't affected from your goal?

Let me try to give an example. We human beings are complex creatures. Maybe you have a wonderful wife and beautiful kids.
Perhaps one of your goals is to get successful here on steemit. For sure it is ;) You learn a lot about the whole platform and knows that it is important to engage with others.

This work is time-consuming. To have this Goal before your eyes help you to organize your family life. Not only that also other parts of your life.

If you dont set goals.png

If you don't set your goal, for example, you are acting blindly from your emotions. If you get the desire for steemit, you do it, but what if exactly now your children need you? For sure you will take care of your kids, but what you wanted to do, to work for your goal will be buried.

If you have a goal you want to achieve you will organize your life around it to reach it. Means, for example, to wake up earlier, to write your first draft of your post in the night. Whatever.

I hope you understand what I am trying to explain you?

It's not about the finish line. This is the part where you can celebrate. This comes later. I wish that of course for everyone here. I wish that everyone will hit the small red circle.

What I am trying to explain you it's more about your life around the goals you set. Your life does not exist only in one or few areas.

Like I said we are complex creatures, we have needs but also other people need us. I do not represent the opinion to achieve one or more goals whatever it takes without looking at my surroundings. I think the How is equal to the finish line.

To have a clear goal before your eyes help you to stay focus and organized for other things. For other important things around you!

We always need to continue to adjust the goal posts for success and track our progress. Having a person you can set similar goals with can also help keep you motivated to succeed in the challenging times. I'm sure @modernpastor as part of your professional career this is something that has set you up for success in your field of choice and now online in this community. Keep the great content coming our way!

Absolutely right!!! It will help us track what we've done so far and if we're improving ourselves as time pass by

Good post! I agree, with no goals, there is nothing to aim at and no way to know if you are making good progress!

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate that you agree.

Did anyone actually read the post? I love the idea that setting goals creates the motivation to start carving a path. The goal doesn't need to be the focus, but instead represents a direction to point our compass as we blaze a new trail.

It's not about the finish line.

@tayken. Thanks for this comment.

Goals are more easily attainable if they have certain characteristics. They should be :
Specific
Measurable
As if now
Realistic
Towards a higher purpose
Many know it as the SMART model .

Ha! Sounds like we might have an instructional designer in the crowd :)

well ... we might ...
glad to help whenever I can :)

SMART move :)

Setting goals is very important. I think it helps us be motivated and push ourselves to go further and be a better person everyday.

Exactly :)

Without goals, you won't know where you are going.

However, after you decided on your goals, it's more important to focus on the process.

I set the daily goals with a list and leave all the extra for the weekends because usually, my weekends are irregular and I have family at home, so it is the best to work something out of the schedule during the Saturday and Sunday and leave the majority of the work to the weekdays.
Anything else -a long term plan - would be too far away from me, but I am trying to follow some common sense path and do progress in some fields.

@aschataria thanks for your great comment :)

Thanks for sharing... Love it.

left aimlessly home without the impression

Set Goals So High that people start calling you nuts, then you prove them wrong :)

This is a beautiful and deep article.

I come from sports and goal were my life and now I learn to let things go. So in my opinion, goals are very important but sometimes it is even harder to let a goal go then to achieve it;-)

You are so right with that my friend.
Wise words.

I am a definite goal setter for sure!! I may not accomplish all of them but the act of planning them out and seeing how to take each step to get there is the fun part of the journey. I love this quote "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" -Benjamin Franklin.
Great post!!

Awesome comment my friend.
You are so right I agree with you.

Setting a goal is all very well, it's what your doing in between now and then. It is of course not out of the question to have more than one goal on the go at any one time. It's how you organise yourself between each goal. And remember life goes on regardless, the bills keep on coming the kids keep on growing and your boss (if you have one) will continue to ride your back-side for quicker results. What I'm trying to say is good post mate - I hope you do well on here..... good luck fellow steemian! deejayram420

This is a great story. I'm working on setting short-term and long-term goals with actual follow through. Thanks for your story.

You're welcome. :)

I've lived a good part of my youth and young adulthood without goals and never achieved my full potential until I read something similar to your post.
Goals are everything, and you can become nothing with them. And a reminder is always great! Thanks :)

Thank you, my friend.
Yes, reminders are always good :)

I'm sorry what does this mean?
