Major Lesson Learned

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

It seems like all of my stories start out with, 'I have this friend...', and they do, but I have friends who inspire me. This particular post is inspired by my interaction with my friend Zinc Saucier this morning.

'IT'S NOT LOADING!!'

I said, wanting to smash my laptop to pieces. I was rushing to get the first draft of my new book to Zinc. He's a friend who acts like an agent. Bossy AF, demanding AF, but he's reliable, honest, and ALWAYS there. If you have ever tried to export thirty-three pages of images/text, then you know that it is a slow process - especially when you use Gimp2. Twenty-two pages had finally opened when I saw the dreaded words: Program Not Responding

GAHHHH

Of course it is not responding! I have 10 minutes left to get my draft in. Why would it work? Work, damn you, work! Oh, fine. I'll wait until you decide to start doing your job, stupid computer. *slap* "I am going to throw you out the window. I swear it." Then I see a glitter of hope. It's running! Oh no! It's not running. IT'S SHUTTING DOWN!

NOOOOOOOOOOO

I wanted to walk away, to shut the cover of my laptop and walk away. I wanted to give up. It's too early in the morning for drinking, but I wanted to. I also wanted to cry. The frustration had me bested...and then... Five...Four...Three...Two...One...I counted down, reminding myself of the new Five Second Rule I have put to use in my life. Calm. Finally calm. Everything opened and everything worked; twenty-three minutes late, but it worked.

The Lesson

Computers have Jedi Powers and can read minds. If you're stressed, it's going to make you even more stressed. Just like life. The lesson I learned this morning is to breathe, and deeply. Sweat the small stuff, but control it. Don't give in. Don't give up. One daily goal down; nine to go.

What a morning! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my stuff, it means a lot to me!

LOL, I swear, this has been me at times. Especially, if Google Chrome decides to shut down inexplicably . . or the cable modem zoinks out for a moment.

Resorting to anger doesn't actually get the computer to come on any fast either. But it sure seems like a good idea at the time.

So much truth! My laptop likes to hate me when I have a deadline, or a high score on my favorite game...lol
Thanks for reading and participating, @shawnfishbit! You just got yourself a new follower ;)

You very on point and quite a fancy way to put out the frustrations...it does happen...especially a system can even hang in the process when you have not saved a shiit and you between the devil & the deep blue sea to restart all work that took hours😕 ..that life...machines also as you said sense frustrations and taking it easy may be the better alternative...nice post

Thanks for reading, @kenhudoy! This was indeed a stressful five minute stretch of time. I am about to get back to work on the final revision. Hopefully the final revision anyway.
Enjoy your day,
Mo

Thanks Mo... Always so sweet😍

There is always glitter of hope Mo..ALWAYS!
And thank you for letting me know that computers have Jedi Powers .,i think you are right about it.

Indeed. There is always something good to be found in everything. This was about a five minute span of time that seemed to last forever in the moment :D Thanks for reading, @finelife!

You are welcome Mo.I think im becoming your frequent visitor.

It's noticed. Trust me ;)

The power of intent is incredible isn't it? What you put off is exactly what you will receive... Good or bad. It's an important lesson in life. And one that needs reminding from time to time. I'm glad everything worked out in the end. <3

Intention is everything. <3 I have it figured out now, so all is well again. I keep learning and projects keep flowing, so all is not lost.

Computers definitely have Jedi powers... and (according to my wife) are psychic as f*ck. Whether you're faking it or not... they are well aware of what you're true intent is...

Your wife is smart AF...LOL They are indeed aware. Thankfully the rest of this afternoon has been going smoothly and I am almost finished with the final revision on the book.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my work, @denmarkguy!
