 Who are the Cypherpunks?

A Cypherpunk's Manifesto

The Cypherpunks were the group of people that bitcoin sprang from. A group of people dedicated to privacy and security. A group of people who were determined to build a world where humans used computer code to make sure that tyrannical control could never be exercised.

The Cypherpunks realized in the late 20th century that money needed fixing. They realized that money in its current form (fiat money) was a tool that a few used to control and steal from the many. They spent decades working on the computer code to change this.

On October 31, 2008, someone going by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto released the bitcoin whitepaper.

The rest is history.

You're where this thing started. Without the decades of thinking and work you put in, none of us would be here. The whole cryptocurrency movement that is beginning to blossom is built on top of your endeavors. Because of you, there is hope for a world where the few don't control everything, but instead, where humans are free to choose. Where we own our data, sell it if we want, and keep the proceeds. Where we get rewarded for the value we add to the world rather than get rewarded for how effectively we steal from each other.

On your backs, we are building a world where we are all incentivized to help each other, to work together, to be truthful - to add as much value as possible to the world.
