@Movingman does Polak Land!

Hello World! I'm in a new country!

After 39 hours on the move with buses, trains, boats and trams, I just arrived at the place Ive rented out in Krakow, Poland.

So far I like krakow a lot, firstly - within the first few minutes of searching for the tram stop from getting of a 12 hour train journey, I saw from across the hall a huge orange B- and as I'm short sighted I just had to get a bit closer to make sure I wasn't hallucinating..

I was so happy!

People must have thought I was mad. It must have looked like the returning of Jesus the way I got so dam exited, and yes it was the first one I had ever seen with my own eyes and it took me by surprise. Firstly, fucking amazing that this is actually stood outside of the shopping center in the trainstation, subconsciously programming the masses as adverts do to the public like those bloody adverts telling you that Aspertame is cool. It's Not.

The picture by the way was stolen from Reddit because I couldn't be bothered to dig my camera out and take a snap.

Its like coca cola to the Right, and Bitcoin to the Left, well placed if you ask me! The only thing was that the BTC machine had a camera on it at face height, and conspicuously labelled "QR Scanner"- Why not just have the scanner at wait height then and not in your face if you went to use the machine?! I wonder how many have used it also. I'd be a bit paras if I was holding many BTC or even a half actually. Do people ever do promo around these machines? It just slipped out in a loud voice, " ONE BITCOIN, JUST THAT ONE - Go buy it before its too late " which actually made a few bystanders go look at the machine, I guess they most likely hadn't even recognized it before some flabbergasted Englishman start making a huge fuss over it.

Secondly, as I was on the tram to the rented appartment it was quite refreshing to see someone on the tram grab his bag as some guy made of out the door with casually. It was actually a really casual situation and something funny to see. There wernt many on the tram and previously when it was packed I saw a sign saying "videorekording" (thats my polish for now) and considering the tram looks like it was from just after the second world war, I found it kind of hard to believe that there could be cameras onboard.
I heard a guy say something and then saw him get his bag back from a hand that had left the tram already, and the guy whos bag it was just sat back down and put his bag in the same spot again, just right next to the door on the steps. It seemed to have been a cheeky "give it a go" kind of thing, the 2 guys who got off the tram were just laughing and the guy whos bag it was, was back staring at his phone.

Made me chuckle anyway. Ive been in Norway for over 2 years and havent seen any street crime or theft at all, and its just refreshing to see it somehow. Oh one time I watched a junkie collegue go and steal a Tshirt from a cloth rack outside a shop, whilst he was high on amphetamines - thats was also funny to see, but that was it.

Wanna see some pictures? I did take some on the way..

Here's a building on the main highstreet that caught the eye in Ystad, Sweden.. I went there because someone said it was less waiting to get a boat to Poland and it would have saved me a 7 hour wait, only if I hadn't waited outside the wrong place or 90mins to open up where I was told to buy my ticket, whilst the ferry I needed was getting ready to leave!

Those blue lights to the right is our ferry!

All Aboard!

The boat from Sweden to Poland, cost me the same as what I rented this small apartment for half a MONTH, and the total cost of the travel was the same as a whole months rent - Which is just plain wrong.

I'll be sure to take a plane back and also save over 35 hours also as well!

I had to buy a cabin, that was the only way I could go with the dogs but anyway I was so shattered that it was kind of worth it, although there was no internet on the boat, or even a socket in the wall to charge things in the cabin.

The first time and place I ever been to in Poland! This is the end of the line at the port, and we had to walk a bit to get to the main trainstation where we would have an hours wait and then a 12 hour ride to Krakow. Atleast we took the main train so there were no changes needed, but actually to have some breaks in between would have been great, the last two hours I ended up smoking in the toilets as they got the old style trains with windows that open!

Its good speaking several languages, it was time to practice the german again as many there spoke german and no english. All I could say at the time was "I have a magic carpet" which was the extent of my polish, and so it was good to be able to use the german language to communicate especially as a magic carpet wouldn't really have fitted in conversation.

Strangely enough there was no snow up there but here in krakow its definitely snowing.

The first place we sat for a few hours as the train was empty, but as the journey went on it got very packed out. I wondered why everyone was sitting in the back carriages condensed and the others were nearly empty..

At the beginning of the journey I thought I had paid for one of my dogs but the woman at the register in the ticket office didn't put it on there even thou I knew the word for dog in polish and so I offered to pay it on the train, when the woman said that only one dog can travel with one person at one time, and that she would have to call her boss so he could come and say whats what. It turned out he was friendly and I think that they realized that they would be finishing the shift soon and so I would be someone else's problem as neither of them came back to even charge me for one dog.

A guy came and said I was sat in his seat around half way through the trip, and so I decided to go to the first class section with unlimited legroom - to the bicycle section and made a bed on the floor.. should have done that in the first place, but who would have know the train would get so packed.

Polish woman are yum, really femininely dressed mostly, and they even smile! Oh yeh right, that long train ride...

The first thing I noticed was there seemed to be many freaks with pieces of land along side the train tracks, one even looked like a full blown occupied building with a farm and something sprayed on the walls, a name which I already forgot.

Lots of home made homes, old caravans and mobile homes, and many many huge green houses in the gardens.
one pic that came out ok

Half way we got a 10 minute break at a station, and the dogs needed a wee!

DSC03127.JPG

I had to go to ask if there was food onboard and they had a food carriage! It was quite pricey actually but hey still cheaper than Norway. I am now in consuming holiday mode so do what "normal" people do and buying food is a normal thing to do, even though its not as fun as dumpsterdiving!

Now its rest time at this appartment, and tomorrow I will write my "intentions" of the next 2 months, involving some serious self development.

  • Stop smoking tobacco
  • Do a 7 day fast
  • Find a cheap masseuse
  • Do daily yoga of atleast one full hour and atleast 3 hours of meditation.
  • Go full-time Plant Based Diet
  • Quit drinking coffee

A great start is that the closest shop is actually an organic health food shop!

And now, I will go do what house dwellers do, and go watch netflix for hours!

Until then! And oh does it feel good in a strange way to make a post on here again :)

Big Love & Abundance

Hi @movingman

Are you visiting Poland just for a short time or will you stay there for long? I'm myself born in Poland (but living in Asia for many years already) and personally believe that Krakow is one of the nicest cities I've seen so far.

Hope you will enjoy as well.

ps. Im really surprissed that you could find Bitcoin ATM. Poland is very hostile towards crypto and hardly anyone wants to even hear about this technology.

Enjoy rest of your stay in Poland
Yours
Piotr

Hi Piotr!

I will be in Krakow for 2 months starting from now, and then I guess it would be rude if I didnt go on a trip to the other countrys so close to Krakow!

Im liking it so far, its a weird mix of other countrys I have been to and stayed in :) What website do polish people use to find second hand things for sale and adverts for say (non sexual) massages and maybe hypnosa?? I dont want to pay tourist prices - like ebay or gumtree or something?
