11 myths and their truths
I'm a lot of science. I use it as a corrective part of my life, including the intake of food and how much sleep I should get. But sometimes we think we can do something, when it's actually a silly myth.
Like these myths:
1. Sugar makes children hyperactive
Sugar is hurting your teeth and is unhealthy. However, there are no studies showing that sugar would make children hyperactive.
2. You get a worm in stomach if you are eating snow
There are no worms in snow. They do not survive the cold. You can get sick from eating snow with bacteria, but you can not mask your stomach.
3. You will get cold if you forget your hat
There is some correlation between cold weather and cold, but it's not as simple as getting sick just because you go out without a jacket. The most common cause of colds is the best spread of viruses.
4. You damage your eyes if you are reading in the dark or sitting too close to the TV
There is no research that reinforces this at all. If you read in poor light, you may be tired of the eyes, but it is not dangerous. You do not increase the risk of myopia either.
5. Do you swallow the chewing gum in the stomach for several years?
Chewing gum follows the usual way like any other food. However, the chewing gum is intact when it comes out.
6. If you eat turkey you will be drowsy
When you have eaten, the body starts to process and melt the food. Blood and oxygen supply to the brain can then decrease, causing you to become drowsy. All sturdy foods can make you drowsy.
7. Mobile phones in hospitals are dangerous
There is no sign of the fact that mobile phones cause power or interference with electronic healthcare equipment.
8. Nails and hair grow after death
They do not grow after death, but on the other hand, the skin can contract after death, which makes it look like the nails have grown.
9. We only use ten percent of the brain
There is never any part of the brain that is completely inactive. The myth was born when an attacker tried to sell a fluid that would increase brain capacity.
10. You should drink at least eight glasses of water a day
We get water from food, juice, milk and even coffee. Adding 2.5 liters of water beyond that is not necessary. The myth comes from a recommendation in the National Research Council in 1945 about drinking 2.5 liters of water a day. All the liquids we get in us count, not just water.
11. Hair grows faster after shaving
Neither wax nor shaving makes it grow faster. On the other hand, it may feel denser just when it grows back, but not when it gets a bit
These are some myths we have been told about for a long time.

About the sugar thing. Spend some time with mine after she has had some candy and I bet you will retract that comment. LOL
