The 'Limitless Pill' aka The Wonderdrug

in life •  8 years ago

For those who don't know what The Limitless Pill is, it's a fictive drug from the movie 'Limitless'. The person in question called Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) bumped into an old relative who is a drugdealer. This man gives Eddie a pill called NZT-48. As soon as he takes the pill, his brain starts performing on it's full capacity instead of our usual 20% (personally I don't believe this.).

Does this pill really exist?

The pill is called Modafinil. So..

What is modafinil?

Modafinil is a smart drug, also known as a nootropic. It enhances your cognitive function in a variety of ways (more on that in a second). There are plenty of smart drugs, but modafinil stands in a class of its own for a few reasons:

  • It’s not a stimulant. Modafinil acts sort of like a stimulant, but it’s actually a eugeroic – a wakefulness-promoting agent. It doesn’t make you speedy or jittery like most classical stimulants do. Modafinil also doesn’t have a crash or withdrawal, the way many smart drugs do.
  • It’s not addictive. In fact, modafinil can help people kick addictions.
  • It has few to no side effects. Modafinil is very safe. I’ve hacked my brain with neurofeedback so much that I don’t see much of a benefit from modafinil now, but I took it every day for 10 years and saw no problems of any kind with it during that time.
  • It works. Really well. Have you ever seen the movie. It’s based on modafinil. This stuff gives you superhuman mental processing, with few to no downsides.

My experience with Modafinil.

Read about it for 2 weeks and decided to try it.

The order went very smooth and received the parcel after 7 days in my mailbox.

The day after.

Woke up at 9am, I can remember it was a grey day. I intentionally drank half a liter of water because I knew this was the smartest thing to do to prevent a headache from Modafinil.

All good and well, arrived at work around 10am, took the full pill and drank another glass of water.

After 30-60 minutes I didn't know if I really felt something, or maybe it could be just a placebo effect.

Around 1pm I definitely felt more energetic, organized and definitely more horny.

I lost my appetite completely and I'd also become an intolerant asshole.

Luckily around 4pm I got home and started feeling hungry again, so I ate. Yes life can be that simple.

After my gastronomic meal, my urge was too big not to go and trade on Poloniex.

Time past and suddenly it was 1am. Now the pill started fading.

This is my experience with Modafinil.

Vyvanse is better.

Why do you think that?

This is an amazing concept.
If it is real then its mind blowing.
I don't know what it feels for our brain to be working at full capacity but one sure thing I know is that it must be powerful.

My concern/challenge with these kind of drugs is that you are so convinced that it works that it almost creates the placebo effect whilst it may contain a substance that will allow you to focus more, your brain is already saying that it's the best thing ever and it will work..it's similar to giving someone a smartie and telling them it will heal their headache and the brain believes it so it works..or you walk past someone at the office and you tell them, geez jim you are looking pale today...and then the 2nd, 3rd and 4th person does the same thing..true as nuts, jim is going to start looking pale and feel ill...

Completely correct. But you should never ever take these kind of things if you aren't capable of controlling your emotions and think properly.

I fully agree...I was on a pill...for the life of me I can't remember it's name..annyways it made me feel very odd, zombie like and then I realized that it works with your hormone level + testerone with added vitamines to make you feel like you are on top of the world but actually it just gave your system a massive imbalance lol...annyways, I am keen to try the next best thing based on more people's response...

I have a few friends who take Modafinil and I agree that it does improve your cognitive skills. Not only does it help you stay organized and focused on your task but believe it or not it helps you in games too. Its almost like adderall dialed down a few bits really and boy did my friends skill increase during the use.

The only issue they told me they had was that if they took it after noon they couldn't sleep until the effect wore off.

Correct, It takes about 12-14 hours to wear off.
