Adventures in the Internet- Chapter 1

It was a cold night in November in late 1981 . Farah waited for her dad to arrive back home from work. Her 3 older brothers had been fighting for most of the day and she couldn't wait for her dad to get home so she could 'grass' on them!

Her dad arrived, weary and tired. He sat down on his favorite couch. He took off his shoes and then summoned the 4 children to the sitting room. They all ran in, knowing that each of them were in for a big telling off for driving their mum cray and not helping with any of the chores.

"Here you go" he said in his deep voice as he shoved a box towards Farah's older brother. She didn't know what was going on but suddenly her brother's face lit up. His eyes widened and his face became animated.

"You got it!" he exclaimed

"I sure did" said the dad

Farah followed her excited brothers into the front room where you were only allowed to go if you were going to watch TV. She watched her brothers fumbling around with wires and move the awkward looking box from the front to the back of the TV.

Suddenly the TV screen came on. But it had a funny image on it. Not like the TV shows she was used to watching. The screen looked different.

"What is it?" she asked

"It's a computer- stupid!" her brother quipped back

"It's the Commodore Vic 20" said the other

"Oh" said Farah- not knowing that it was going to change her life!
