If earth driest desert can house dormant life,can Mars,too?

Microorganisms survive conditions in the Atacama Desert suggest 'microbial life' they could do the same on Mars.

So,researchers observed microorganisms reverting back to their dormant state/life, where they could remain for decades after extremely rainfall in the Atacama Desert.
