How To Not Get Bored Or Lose Motivation And Go Back To Old Habits

in life •  3 years ago  (edited)

It is natural to get bored or lose motivation and go back to old habits. In most cases, people who become bored tend to repeat the same things over again. Even if you have set goals, you may find yourself not going towards them. This is because, you get bored of doing the same thing. And the cycle continues until you give up and start looking for new challenges.

New habits are usually more exciting than routines. So you need to understand that it may take some time for you to get into the groove of a new habit. However, once you are there, you will realize that it is easier to maintain than your old habits. One of the things that you need to keep in mind is that your habits need to be related to something that you enjoy. The more you enjoy doing it, the more likely you are to continue with it. So it is important to find something that you are interested in doing.

Here are some ideas on how to get bored or lose motivation and go back to new habits: Do something that you haven't been doing for awhile. For example, if you have been doing crafts for a long time but haven't made any new things since you were a child, try making something for your family on your birthday. If you have been putting on weight, start an exercise routine. If you are feeling a little sluggish, sign up for a yoga or pilates class.

Create habits around activities that you enjoy. For example, if you are always watching TV, set up a night time habit of going to bed and being relaxed while watching TV. Or perhaps, if you are a video game junkie, spend some time playing shooting games or board games. Another habit could be reading books. Whatever your passion is, make it part of your daily routine.

Boredom can happen to anyone, especially at work. If you get bored and go back to the office lounge, do you think the boss will notice? It's best to keep your desk set up properly so you won't be tempted to read the paper or watch TV. If you can't take a break, at least make sure that you have a snack ready during the breaks so that you won't get hungry. Don't let boredom sneak into your life too often.

If you go out on a date with a special someone and you get bored, don't force yourself to go another date that night. If that person leaves the room, take the time to read a book, play some golf or go online for a bit. It's okay to say "I'm bored," but don't follow through. If you take the time to enjoy a book, show concern for your friend or even find a new hobby, you'll feel better.

Just like you may feel a certain way because of a traumatic experience in your past, others react to things in different ways. That's why it's not always easy to determine why a person becomes bored. Try thinking back to a time when you seemed to have the energy of a child. Notice how you felt then?

Now imagine having those feelings again. Is it possible that you could convince yourself that it's a good thing? Don't underestimate the power of positive thinking. Many people have used positive thinking to change their lives. It can work for you too. The key is just knowing when to use it.
