Competitiveness: stimulus of excellence

in life •  8 years ago

When I was little in physical education or sport classes, I considered myself a very competitive child, no matter what sport we were playing at the time, what I was worried about was winning, always winning and winning, there was nothing else in my head. But obviously that behavior was quite common among children of that age, I was not the only one, in fact most of the children who studied with me behaved in the same way. This kind of behavior made us try our best and exhaust all our energies to get there first or win a football game. However as time passed, for me and for all of them that spirit of competitiveness was fading, to be honest I have no clear idea of why this phenomenon happens, but this is happening.

Have you ever wondered what is keeping large companies constantly improving? Or perhaps what makes a person strive to improve himself to offer better services? Regardless of the field in which it is developed.

The answer is: Competitiveness.

Free competition requires that its competitors (redundancy) make every effort to obtain the supremacy of something, from a job or a football team, to the supremacy in some market, making use of the universal law called " Law of supply and demand, "since it applies to absolutely everything in life. And this type of stimulus (competitiveness) since the earliest times has influenced man's ability to improve, along with the individualistic stimulus to obtain his own benefit in exchange for something, then this means that free competition must be encouraged and not infringed.

Free competition makes us better people. The feeling that we are in competition with another person leads us to limits that we may not even know about ourselves, everything in search of something, but to get there we must prove that we are a better choice than other people, and the The only way to achieve that is by becoming truly better individuals. I am a fan of sports yet, especially football but this principle applies to each of them. When a team manager wants his players to work harder on the pitch he applies an old reliable trick, bringing a player of the same position to generate competition. This makes him see the other player who was first that his position inside the team is no longer guaranteed, and that if he wants to remain in the starting lineup he will have to try harder to play better, and if not, he is simply replaced by another better player . Then this benefits the team since the quality of play is not lost and even better, it benefits the fan who enjoys a better show, in a nutshell benefits everyone.

Commercially speaking, competition benefits us all as consumers. When there are monopolies within a market, there is little supply on a product or service, making it worth much more and not necessarily have the best quality possible. But when there are conditions for free competition between various companies fighting for the supremacy of the market, there is a greater offer of products or services, making these companies offer prices more competitive than that of their adversaries, ie lower prices, and That if they want to obtain greater sales and profits that their competences must be in constant improvement of said products and services, in the end the winner of all this matter is the consumer.

A competitive spirit creates better long-term results. When the competitive spirit is encouraged among people, they are always accustomed to work on this basis to constantly improve, which in the long term produces incredible results, that is why there are countries more developed than others, since they promote competition Among its citizens, in order to create a large and lasting result.

Free competition is always going to get the best results possible within any field where it is applied, and this has been demonstrated throughout the history of mankind, is too basic a principle. The spirit of competitiveness of man makes him do things unthinkable for him, in fact, if you want to influence someone's behavior, try to stimulate their spirit of competitiveness. The coach of my baseball team when I was a kid had an interesting tactic to get us to take more turns into the field each time. In the previous shift I told the students to take as many laps as possible, and the number of laps that these students gave, he wrote with chalk on the board of the dough out for the second shift to see the number, and thanks to this competitive spirit We did more rounds, so did the next group and so on. In addition to that each one had a replacement in each position of the field, so it was impossible for some of us not to strive, since easy we could lose our position. In short, such influences are only possible by instilling the spirit of competitiveness among people, drawing their best efforts and results.

And more importantly, this type of thought was instilled in the minds of the boys, it was engraved forever in their memories, making the effect of this action endure forever.

Competition is one of the main stimuli of excellence.

So many people believe that competition is inherently hostile and destructive, but this is not the case in reality. It is a neutral idea used far more often for beneficial purposes. Good article!

Some people are afraid of competence, as I said in this article, it's good for everyone. Thank you.
