A Big Loss for India

in life •  last month

Day before yesterday was a sad day for every Indian as one of the most legendary persons of the Country bids farewell forever. He is none other than Mr. Ratan Tata the great industrialist, businessman and a philanthropist. The Chairman of Tata Group of Companies which are not only India renowned but they are famous over the world. In our day to day lives we have been using products of this brand weather it is clothing, cosmetics, electronics, vehicles, grocery, foods, restaurants, entertainment, dining, hotels, healthcare, hospitals, airlines, IT company, telecom, finance, steel, one can name a product or a service and one will find a Tata brand in it.

I worked for this brand for 15 years and it was such a pride. When I would tell someone that I worked for TCS, it was like an immediate rise in status. People would look with respect, that is the impact of this brand.

He was a very noble person, always in community service and I have never seen or heard of a bigger philanthropist then what he was. It was like he wanted to take care of the whole world and be there for every person in need. Major part of his revenues would be used in charity, and that's what he was known for. There are so many rich people in the world, but I can say with guarantee that none has a heart like him. He was a down-to-earth person and in public he came out so simple, his dressing was so ordinary. He was a man of high integrity, never believed in show off, he worked in silence. He was also an animal lover and even on that front did a lot of work creating shelter homes for stray animals.

In the year 2018, he was invited by Prince Charles to grace him with a Lifetime achievement award for Philanthropy. He missed that event because one of his dogs was terribly ill and he did not want to leave him in that moment. Such was his greatness. If there would have been any other person in his place, that person would have left their pets with their staff and attended the event, but he was different, one of a kind. God makes such people one in a billion or may be trillion.

During the 26/11 Taj hotel terrorist attack in 2008 in Mumbai, which is again a Tata brand hotel, this man came forward like no one else in the entire country. He gives high compensations to the victim families, to his staff, and to every single person who was impacted in the tragedy, as if he took full ownership of the incident and brought back to hotel back on its feet in no time. He was a visionary with excellence. Approximately 65% of Tata group profits are used for charity. His stories can go on and on.

He built products that catered to all class of people, so in automobile sector he has range of cars which are the ultimate luxury and at the same time he manufactured ones which catered to the lower income groups also. It was the same approach for almost every product that he got into. The Tata Cancer hospital is well known and there are sections there which gives complete free treatment to those who cannot afford. He catered the luxury class as well the economy class and yet no one ever complained about the quality.

I feel so proud that he was a man from my own Community, we are such a small community and in that to have one such legend is like the ultimate, and for me I even worked for one his Company. It makes me feel so closely associated with him. His name Ratan, also means Gem and he truly was one, and the most precious gem, that we have lost. From here on how the Tata group of Companies will operate, no one has idea about it. Whether they will run with the same values or not, all of this is a big question and only time will tell. Sadly he has not left any legacy behind him and there is none from his family who has such a deep impact on the brand like he had.

Every single person in India is sad today with his passing away. He was like a super human, a person full of values, high on integrity, unwavering commitment to excellence and overall, a person with a very high moral compass. An Angel in disguise. May his soul RIP. Make God make such more humans and with their presence this world will surely become a better place to live.

Mr. Ratan Tata will live in our hearts forever.

I am grateful to have worked at TCS, and I believe that those who are aware of the person behind it, whether they work for the company or not, are truly blessed. My admiration for the legend remains steadfast, and I continue to draw inspiration from their example.

He was truly a legend, One of a kind in today's humanity

Indeed! He truly was a dictionary of guiding light for so many, teaching us the true meaning of life. I'm feeling saddened and going through a tough time coping with this significant loss. He was my role model, and like me, many others revered him like a deity. May the universe bring him back to us in the next life if it exists!

It is sad, but we need to understand that everything has a time limit here and he lived a good and full life and passed on gracefully, which is also such a blessing. People like him teach us lessons which we can imbibe in our lives forever for our own good.

He was a Leader in true sense, and he walked his talk, which was the greatest admiration that everyone had for him. A life fully lived with right values and with humbleness.
