What we have here are examples of ordinary people who, in the main, just lack personal discipline. There are MILLIONS like this in society. On top of this, they committed what was often a victimless crime. They don't have the personal discipline to then comply with the often overly stringent rules of the parole. As the video said, they go back to jail not for committing another crime, but for breaking a parole rule. Not letting that guy live with his girlfriend and calling her a 'victim' is obviously a stupidly inflexible interpretation of who a victim is. Most non criminals could not comply with the very arduous parole regulations over such a long perod of time. The parole is TOO LONG, as are nearly all sentences in the US. No wonder it has the highest prison population of any country. Many of the prisons are privately owned profit-making centers with shares held by judges and law enforcement personnel with a confilict of interest in wanting to see people locke up. People in other Western countries are often shocked by the length of US sentences and non-parole periods, or worse, NO parole periods. It's inhuman and like North Korea.
