HATE SPEECH ON STEEMIT

in life •  7 years ago

After work, while having dinner,I was scrolling through some new posts and I came across some offensive material.
Free speech is a right in a free country and should be celebrated and protected. We should go to any lengths needed to preserve it.
There should be no reason to hide it in a Hyde park. It ought to be visible all around. Of course, this does not mean no consequences. Speak your mind about the company you work for and your job will disappear. Whistle blowers don't always fare well. But still no one should take away your ability to speak your mind on any subject.

On the other hand, remember that free speech is a privilige also. It has been earned from the jaws of tyranny. It is wrapped in the blood of brave souls. When you forget that your right is truly an earned privilige, you misuse that right to the point where you blur the boundaries between hate speech and free speech. You are not free to harm others by the weapon of speech. Language is more powerful than our best weapons.

Turn free speech into hate speech and you may gain a few followers. You will also lose hundreds. Hate will trap you in its web. It is a vicious cycle that is not forgiving. Hate is a great deceiver that gives a moment of pleasure and buys you a lifetime of misfortune.

Be kind to people, get to know them. If they deserve your ill feelings, walk away because there is so much positive to engage with in this world. Your kind gesture of quietly walking away is far more likely to have a positive impact on them than your worst feelings spewed across steemit pages. Hate will harm you more than it will harm them. Be good to yourself.

Good night friends, it's been a long day.

I read that too..

A post also about hating steemit as not a quality blogger or simply it as a scam. But he used steemit and asking for upvotes and resteem.

In my opinion, steemit is not maybe for quality bloggers or it is. But hating steemit for that, is totally wrong! Ranting on post is totally wrong. You wanted enemy. Then you who will care for you.

There is always a good way in saying your opinion but ranting all over on your post gained nothing!

Posting hate is simply you hate yourself

Thanks my friend

Steemit is a marketplace of ideas. I hope you are correct. Hate speech should hopefully earn someone a quickly depleted following.

Thankyou for reading my post

When I see posting about hating I go elsewhere, life is just to short to deal with the haters... Sharing..

Thankyou for reading my post and commenting

As much as I am not in favor of hate speech I believe that it should 100% be allowed. If I prevent someone from speaking today then tomorrow it could be someone preventing me from speaking. I also think that free speech is not a privilege but a right. My driver's license is a privilege and can be taken away for multiple reasons. Speech, on the other hand, should be allowed no matter what. It's up to you whether or not you provide that person with an audience.

Hate speech is about political correctness. it's to control the way people talk. That isn't freedom it's taking away free speech.

I agree completely. Thankyou

Free speech is a right, not a privilege. People will always disagree with what others say but they should defend each others natural born right to say whatever they want to say. Also offence is taken not given, so if you have found something that offends you then that is for you alone to consider as to why you have taken offence at it.

Thankyou for an insightful comment
