Whereas others are running away from floods, hurricanes, heavy winds, we in Southern Africa, in particular in Zimbabwe should be very alert with the case of veld fires.

This is the summer time, but also the hot season very prone to veld fires and with statistics, research has shown that people should be very consciuous because there seem to be a very high risk of veld fire prevalance due to high fuel load.

Just a simple smoke from a cigarratte can intrigue a huge fire that can destroy a community, destroy the veld itself, the animals and people included. A hot ashe from the braai stand during happy moments can cause disaster, unattended burning waste dumps can intrigue a veld fire.

People need to be very cautious with their actions and surounding in order to avoid great damage. Many people assume that fires a very easy to put down little do they know that the small dry weed burning or that small piece of cigarratte thrown into the grassb as resuklted in great losses.

Prevention is always better than cure.

Lets prevent these veld fires.

In a period of a week in 2017 six people dies in Manicaland province due to veld fires and the vulnerable ages include the yound children and old age.

People should create community groups educating each other or calling the necessary authorities to educate them about veld fires, have fire fighting groups, try avoid the little mistakes that can trigger fires, learn methods like grass combing, reducing fuel load like glasses, papers etc
