A protest group led by Trump-supporter Jovi Val entitled "Speak English Please" took place Saturday afternoon in front of New York's Trump Tower. A dissenting pro-Trump counter-protest branding itself as a "MAGA Unity Rally" took place across the street.
"Free Speech Rally to your left, PC (politically correct) rally to your right," read one "Speak English Please" protester's sign standing between the two groups.
"This is a beautiful country and why not have a national language? We're not saying it's the only language to speak. We're saying it should be the priority to learn English in America!" Val told News2Share.
Protesters wearing "Make America Great Again" caps yelled at Val as he approached their event. "You're a filthy liar! We're here to support President Trump!" one yelled at him.
"You're yelling at me in English," Val replied.
The event wasn't without non-Trump-supporting counter-protesters as well. As the groups chanted, one woman walked by with a sign reading "Caging children? Sig Heil President Pussy."
"Build that wall! Build that wall!" the Unity Rally chanted.
"God gives us Jesus, and now God gives us Donald J Trump. That's two for two. Who's next? Maybe Barron Trump might be the third messiah," said one "Speak English Please" participant to passerby's.
"I'm a Nazi, and I order you to the concentration camps," the same participant said to someone who called him a "Nazi" in passing. "Oh, you're not doing it? I must not be a Nazi then, jackass."
After rallying for about two hours outside Trump Tower, "Speak English Please" marched to the Trump International Hotel, a bit less than a mile away. As they arrived, a number of more heated arguments began.
"This is the first nigga they're gonna put in the oven," said one angry New Yorker, pointing at a "Speak English Please" participant with a "Jews for Trump" sign.
"Your hats are like swastikas. Your hats are like KKK," another said, referring to the "Make America Great Again" caps.
