২০০৯ সালের ২৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি রাজধানীর পিলখানায় বিডিআর সদর দফতরে (বর্তমান বিজিবি) ঘটে এক মর্মান্তিক ও নৃশংস ঘটনা। তাই ২৫ ও ২৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি, বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে কালো দিন। এদিন বিদ্রোহী বিডিআর জোয়ানদের হাতে প্রাণ হারান ৫৮ জন সেনা সদস্য। বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী ও বিজিবি আজ ও আগামীকাল তাদের শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করবে।
বহুল আলোচিত এ ঘটনায় মামলা দায়ের করা হয়। যা পিলখানা হত্যা মামলা পরিচিত। ওই মামলায় হাইকোর্ট ১৩৯ জনকে ফাঁসি, ১৮৫ জনকে যাবজ্জীবন এবং ২০০ জনকে বিভিন্ন মেয়াদে কারাদণ্ড দিয়েছেন। এটি বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে সবচেয়ে বড় মামলা হিসেবে পরিচিত।
