There was a time when privacy was priceless, and parents cherished their children's' most intimate moments. Today, we have parents who are posting photos of their babies, toddlers and children while eating, playing, sleeping and anything in between. And if that wasn't bad enough, many have made a business out of their children; promoting products through them and writing captions to their followers that say the child is 'better' as a result of this new product they're pictured with.
It's a shame parents are not shamed for this irresponsible behaviour. You might ask yourself, what's the difference between these children and those who 'model'. Well, I don't approve of both, but at least in 'modelling' children are in 'controlled' situations for a few hours where they are photographed and the 'job' is done. With instagram, it's everyday and all day long, and under ANY condition. Here is an example of one account I came across with their captions;
Caption: Marcella is all snug and settled thanks to a post bath date with @avene_au's XeraCalm moisturiser! Have skin that's sensitive, dry and itchy? The #avene XeraCalm is the perfect antidote!
Caption: Teething and the cool weather are no match for a good morning marination with @avene_au's Cicalfate! Letting this miracle cream soak in and work it's magic to soothe, protect and heal even the driest of Marcella's skin
Caption: Nothing beats those morning smiles after a great night's sleep. Marcella has started giggling at everything, loving life in her new season @mad_about_mini Counting Sheep Long Sleeve Jumpsuit!
Nothing is sacred anymore, but social media is NOT to blame. It's people's abuse of it.
