The Property Journey - the genesis - How it started to become real for one of us.

Today's Post will be about

1. Inspiration

Our very first steps were taken quite a few months ago. At some stage we both felt that further developing our property portfolio was the right step, but apart from buying houses to live in ourselves we didn't have any other experience.

But the more important question here is how did we BOTH arrive at the moment of thinking this was a thing we could actually do as a couple.

The answer is not together ! So today I will write about how Blondie arrived.

The following post will be about how @ozkdawg also finally got there too !

About 4-5 months ago Blondie took on a course that helps you think about your own skill sets, abilities and passions. The course had nothing to do with property, but it was a defining moment as parts of it helped galvanise her ideas on finding something that she was really passionate about.

One evening she buttonholed me while watching TV and said that she wanted to build a property empire (or Emporium as she calls it). Part of this first transformation requires one to verbalise your intentions and what you speak becomes the truth about you. She said she wanted to find our information about property development and did I know anyone.

The act of asking me this was quite a powerful driver for change, because I suddenly recalled meeting a chap at a wedding in France who was a himself a property developer in London. He was a good friend of a school friend of mine from Australia.

At this point property was not something on my mind. I was merely helping Blondie. We organised him to meet us at Blondie's club in the city. We offered to pay for some drinks and dinner if Blondie could pick his brain for half an hour.

This chap had become very successful and had a large portfolio of residential properties. He had a certain USP to what he did and it is centred around creating the best possible place for a tenant to live in. Indeed he has won many awards for this.

Like ourselves he had a job in the city and when he began his career he never thought that it would be property that would become his thing.

This dinner was a defining moment for Blondie because it made it all real and she had met someone who had been through the journey.

Since then our contact has been of immense help providing us with contacts in the industry like lawyers, accountants, mortgage brokers.

The lesson here is Blondie asked those around here and she found what she needed within her circle of contacts !
