HBO’s Programming President; Casey Bloys says the series would be released on time so it can qualify for the Emmy Awards in 2019.
Joe Bauer; Game of Thrones visual effects supervisor said in an interview with HuffPost that the show will be eligible for the Emmy award in 2020 and not 2019. However, many of its episodes will be aired after the 2019 deadline; May 31st. Bauer also said that in February 2019, the prequel will begin its shoot, at least the pilot as a lot of work still has to be done on Season 8 when they are beginning.
